I remember that in what is now the International terminal, there was
this cafe run by the (you guessed it) Ashok chain of hotels. My uncle
had a vegetarian burger and I had a sandwich. The burger was so "unfresh"
(I won't say "stale") and hard that my uncle had a hard time
chewing it with his past-it's-prime teeth. I forgot what my sandwich tasted
like; suffice to say that it wasn't worth remembering anyways.
In the current spanking new domestic terminal of the same airport is now
a spanking new restaurant run by the Oberoi group of hotels. It's an expensive
restaurant so I've not dared to venture inside. If you're a foreign tourist,
then don't be scared by the "expensive" tag, they all work out
to be reasonable rates in dollar terms; not any more expensive than your
above-average restaurants you get back home. There's a couple of "snack
bars" run by the (gosh they're like the plague aren't they?) Ashok
group: one in the general lounge area and the other in the departure lounge.
You get some fruit cakes and, if you're lucky, some pretty decent creamy
pastries which are pretty friendly with the taste-buds.
