usa: MIAMI, MIA |
| La Caretta at Miami Intenrational Airport. This Cuban
chain restaurant has a location in Miami International Airport. If memory
serves me correctly, it's at Terminal D. The first thing that I noticed
was that many airport and airline staff eat there. It's often filled with
baggage handlers, pilots, flight attendants, and security personnel. Following
the tradition that if the locals eat there, it must be good, my boyfriend
and I tried it. Their Cuban menu includes tradtional favorites such as Ropa
Vieja (literal translation - "old clothes") and Chicken and Yellow
Rice, Black Beans, Cuban bread, and the famous Cuban sandwhich. Ropa Viega
is actually a dish consisting of beef browned then stewed in a broth with
onion and bell peppers. Although the prices are in line with other airport
food (can you say "way overpriced"?), the quality is good, rice
is homemade, not instant, and there is a good selection of domestic and
South American beers. sent by Cynthia Brown, Brandon FL, 14 July 2002 |
