usa: SAN FRANCISCO, SFO

The new International Terminal has a number of restaurants with decent, though typically expensive, food. When flying from here, I recommend heading towards the very nice dining area near boarding area A (post security) with expansive glass walls. I can spend hours sipping a latte and viewing the hills, freeway, airport activity, and San Francisco Bay.

Food at San Francisco International is the usual mix, actually it is quite good, sushi and pizza and stuff... including some very good burgers made of non hormone challenged meat. There do seem to be a lot of people eating there.

But more interesting is the SFO Airport Aviation Museum... which even has photographs of meals being served on board through the early days of flying. The Museum itself is inside what used to be the "original" terminal at SFO into the '40s. I shall try to buy reprints for this website next time.

Located at one corner of the Departure Area, near the Virgin Atlantic lounge, staffed by volunteers who are usually ex-airline industry themselves, I was given a guided tour by two elderly gentlemen which remains the high point of my last trip to the US.
