Comments: This meal was actually pretty good. The sauce on the chicken had alot of flavor and the potatoes were tasty. The salad was fresh and those brownies are to die for! American still offers full meal service on their New York-Carribean flights. Its always a bonus to get a meal on any flight these days. Good Job American!

Route: DFW to MCO, 2006-03-17
Date added: 2009-11-18
Flight duration: 2h 00m
Flight class: first
Ticket price:
Aircraft: Boeing 757-200
Meal: Beverage Service - Snack foods
Drink: Bloody Mary and Amstell light beer.
Comments: Due to the late departure, AA offers a beverage service only. I find this to be acceptable because I wouldn't eat a meal that late anyway. Those of us in F enjoyed the very attentive service which included 3 pre-departure beverages! Sorry about the picture being a bit blurry!

Meal: Dinner - Salad with artichokes, olives, mushrooms. "Baked Chicken" with BBQ sauce, rice, and vegetables. Cheesecake for desert

Date added: 2009-11-18
Flight duration: 7h 00m
Flight class: business
Ticket price: n/a
Aircraft: 767-300
Meal: Dinner - "Dine Upon Request" - A complete meal presented all at once, at any time you wish (i.e., as soon as possible). Appetizer: Smoked salmon and herb-marinated shrimp Salad: Fresh seasonal greens with julienned zucchini, yellow bell peppers, button mushrooms and cherry tomatoes offered with creamy Caesar dressing or olive oil and balsamic vinegar Entrees: * A signature dish by Stephan Pyles--Cowboy Steak: Cowboy beef fillet featured with red chili onions and accompanied by corn bean ragout * Lamb shank enhanced by an ale tomato sauce, offered with mushroom risotto, butternut squash and haricots verts (not pictured) * Chicken Madeira, herb chicken accented by a Madeira demi-glace, served with potato cheddar gratin, eggplant confit and sauteed mixed vegetables * Boursin lasagna, layered with roasted red pepper and pesto sauces, creamy fines herbes boursin cheese and spinach, topped with red pepper strips.
Drink:
Comments: Chicken was pretty good, steak was way overcooked but had potential if it was cooked properly. Small salad and appetizer, but it needs to fit on the same tray, and it's not so much that you're stuffed and can't fall asleep afterward.

Meal: Dinner - Appetizer: Portobello Mushroom & Cherry Tomatoes Salad: Fresh seasonal greens with artichoke quarters, red bell peppers, kalamata olives and cucumbers, offered with honey dijon dressing or olive oil & balsamic vinegar Entrees Choices: * Filet of salmon with a ginger-soy glaze, offered with haricots verts, carrots and jasmine rice (not pictured) * Seared filet of beef accented by porcini mushroom butter and bordelaise sauce, servied with olive oil fingerling potatoes, grilled fennel, cipploini onion and roasted yellow tomatoe * Roasted chicken breast accompanied by eggplant confit and orzo pasta * Goat cheese and red pepper cappelletti pasta bound in a light pesto sauce, garnished with toasted pine nuts and sun-dried tomatoes (not pictured) Dessert: a scoop of mango sorbet
Drink:
Comments: OK. Steak was nicely cooked medium-rare for a change. Appetizer was a bit of a joke, it's like they took some of the veggies off the salad, put them on a different plate and called it a separate course.

Route: ORD to LAX, 2006-03-18
Date added: 2009-11-18
Flight duration: 3h 55m
Flight class: first
Ticket price: $394.10
Aircraft: 767-300 - N387AM
Meal: Snack - Hot nuts with pistashios, cashews, almonds and walnuts to start. Followed by a turkey wrap containing turkey, corn and peppers served with shell pasta. On the side were Carrs crackers, some spreadable cheddar cheese and a pack of Applesauce Oatmeal Cookies.
Drink: Diet Coke and Red Wine with the meal
Comments: As I remarked to the flight attendant "this is a pretty sorry meal for a 4 hour flight" to which she agreed. This is a perfectly acceptable meal for a two hour or less flight, but for a flight of 1,745 miles, I do not think it unreasonable to expect courses or at least something hot.

Meal: On-board purchased "breakfast" - Various crackers, trail mix, raisins, etc.
Drink: coffee
Comments: Horrible substitute for food in business class!! Shows how cheap the airlines are today. On the other hand, if you're a horse, you would like these oats and nuts - but I'm not a horse.

Route: DFW to SNA, 2006-02-26
Date added: 2009-11-18
Flight duration: 2h 40m
Flight class: first
Ticket price: $280.40
Aircraft: 737-800 - N952AA
Meal: Snack - Hot nuts (Walnuts, almonds, cashews and pistashios) Then: A turkey and swiss cheese croissant served with a salad of lettuce, mushrooms and a cherry tomato with Greek Vinegrette dressing. Carrs Water Crackers with cheddar cheese and lemon cookies on the side. Optional mustard garnishing for whatever you saw fit to add it to.
Drink: Dr. Pepper and Red Wine (What a combo!)
Comments: The hot nuts satisfy me everytime and this was a decent enough lunch. Its hard for airlines to screw up sandwiches so I'm happy to be served them, though this tired salad has been making the rounds on AA for far too long.
