Flying from: Los Angeles to New York, late 1970s
Class: first
Meal type: lunch
What was in the meal: dessert course included mud pie
Comments: "Mud pie was superb, but of interest is the table set up. Pan Am had the table trays configured in a way that if two passengers traveling together desired, a long table could be set up spanning both seats to give the feel of dining in a restaurant. Each set up included fresh flowers in a vase. I believe it was around this period that Pan Am offered dining upstairs in their 747s, with tables accommodating some but not all of the passengers on a sold out flight...so those who had not booked their table prior to flight day could have these long tables set up downstairs."
Rating 1-10: 10
