Flying from: Calgary to Frankfurt
Class: Economy (1st seat and row in Economy)
Meal type: Dinner - A tough bun you could use as a rock, a horrible
desert which had the worst icing topping a kid had made im sure,
horrible vegetables that were still crunchy, rice which was horrible and
it didnt stay together, the dried piece of chicken breast, a salad which
i just couldnt swallow there were beans and cold peas in there. crackers
and cheese.
Drink: Water
Comments: I was the first pax in Economy and I checked I was the first
served. This was a night flight we left 6pm so many of us wouldn't have
eaten, we weren't served till 4 hours into the flight (me first) so I'm sure
many wouldn't have got their meal till 11pm, it also took them two hours
to collect our trays after. That blew me getting any sleep before getting
into FRA. Never fly AC if you have a chance. This is the WORST economy
food I've ever had. I mentioned I was taking a photo for airline meals
and she felt almost embarassed, but she knew of the site."

Class: Economy (Y)
Meal type: Snack - A shortbread biscuit
Drink: Water
Comments: "Well I thought economy on any full service airline was bad on a short domestic run, but this has taken the bacon. And the service at Air Canada isn't any better."

Flying from: Toronto YYZ to Calgary YEG, 21 October 2002
Class: Hospitality (Economy)
Meal type: Breakfast - Cheese-and-red-pepper omelette, homefried potatoes, green beans and mushrooms (for some reason)
Drink: Orange juice, coffee (good coffee, brand name but can't remember whose)
Comments: Air Canada gets load of bad press in Canada about its service, but I'm always pleasantly surprised. This flight was an Airbus A321, only a year old, beautiful interior. Very pleasant flight attendants, excellent inflight entertainment (a whole channel of Cuban music!) and probably the best inflight magazine around. I'm not a big fan of fancy food, and the only place I eat omelettes is on an airplane, so this is a pretty fit meal by my standards.

Flying from: Toronto YYZ to San Francisco SFO, 10 September 2002
Class: Economy
Meal type: Dinner - Strips of ham mixed with some salad, tomato and onion; dinner roll; coffee cake.
Drink: Orange Juice, soft drinks.
Comments: "Wow, if they called this "dinner" then I dont know.......it was more like a snack. I mean comon, instead of actually having an "entree", they cut up some ham and salad to make it look like there is a lot of food -> i.e. to make it look like dinner and not snack. Awful, even KLM's food is better than that, United also never does this kinds of cheap tricks on customers."
Rating 1-10 (worst-best): 2 (well the coffee cake was pretty good)

Flying from: Toronto to Ottawa, 18 October 2002
Class: Hospitality
Meal type: Breakfast (laughingly termed) - One small slice of something
Drink: One small coffee
Comments: "One bite, one sip, these cheapscates think this is breakfast? Breakfast are getting worse on Air Canada shuttle. When there was competition on this high traffic route, you got a full hot breakfast: orange juice, fruit, egg + ham + veggy, bun, butter and spread, big cup of coffee, all on plates and with cutlery. Now look at it, microscopic, wrapped up in a piece of plastic! And they have the audacity to charge $815 return. People who post pictures of the first class meals over the oceans are not living like the cattle class, the poor plebs who have to work for a living when they get to Ottawa on an empty stomagh."

Flying from: Halifax to Toronto, 05 October 2002
Class: Economy
Meal type: Snack ??? - Pretzels
Drink: zip, I declined
Comments: "Okay, this is just ridiculous, a two hour flight and they come and offer a beverage and a tiny package of pretzels. Would it kill them to serve a sandwich? The flight price was a mere $565.00 so I suppose they couldn't afford to do anything more than give us a Halloween Treat sized snack for the high cost of probably 25 cents! Air Canada has no competition can we all guess what the future holds for our in flight meals?"
Rating 1-10 (worst-best): hmm how about 1/2?

Flying from: Toronto to London, October 2002
Class: Executive First
Meal type: Cheese Course and Dessert - "Creme Caramel" and variety of cheeses (served separately)
Comments: "The cheeses were really great and they tasted great. However, I'd liked to have seen some grapes instead and some simple crackers instead of all these little breads and dried fruits. The Creme Caramel was not on the menu, but it was quite okay, tasted a bit too sweet and gluey, presentation could have been a bit better, but not bad at all."

Flying from: Toronto to London, October 2002
Class: Executive First
Meal type: Late Dinner - "Barbeque Beef and Seafood Brochettes"
Comments: "Wow! The new J-class service is really improved!Service was a bit slow as I think the crew got use to the new service standard, but the food was worth the wait. Here you see the two brochettes, with thick bbq-sauced beef cubes on one and a shrimp, piece of salmon and a scallop on the other. Both were served on a dill potatoe salad on this really nice plate. Meal was appropriate for the lateness of the flight (about midnight)- not too complicated with a salad, etc. Also great new selection of breads!"

Comments: "This is a part of AC's new Executive First service, new food, new drinks, new presentation etc. The drink was great and really refreshing for a late evening flight out of Toronto. Great, simple, new addition to the J class service."
