Route: London-Toronto - Sept 2003
Flight duration:7.5 hours
Aircraft type & class: A330-300 Executive First
Business or leisure trip: Business
Meal type: Dessert
Contents of the meal: Chocolate Mousse Cake or Lemon Tart
Drink: Wild Horse Canyon - Blended White Wine
Comments: As you can see, I am an air-pig and had both desserts. The Lemon Tart was actually a mousse type of dessert and was quite good, but a bit pasty. The chocolate mousse was excellent and lite.

Route: London-Toronto - Sept 2003
Flight duration:7.5 hours
Aircraft type & class: A330-300 Executive First
Business or leisure trip: Business
Meal type: Cheese course
Contents of the meal: Cheese selection, dried fruits, toasted breads
Drink: Wild Horse Canyon - Blended White Wine
Comments: One of my favourite courses onboard. However, I'd like to see AC bring back the grapes. My favourite cheese is the one with cranberries in it - delicious.
Rating 1-10 (worst-best): 9

Route: London-Toronto - Sept 2003
Flight duration:7.5 hours
Aircraft type & class: A330-300 Executive First
Business or leisure trip: Business
Meal type: Main Course - Lunch
Contents of the meal: Roasted rack of lamb with maple glaze offered on mashed new potatoes, braised carrots and shallots and kumquat and cranberry relish.
Drink: Wild Horse Canyon - Blended White Wine
Comments: Beautiful presentation and the relish was excellent. However, the portion size was a bit disappointing, especially compared to the chicken option. The meat was slightly tough, but that's how lamb at 35,000 feet can be. Otherwise, an excellent meal and excellent service.

Route: London-Toronto - Sept 2003
Flight duration:7.5 hours
Aircraft type & class: A330-300 Executive First
Business or leisure trip: Business
Meal type: Main Course - Lunch
Contents of the meal: Sautéed chicken breast with oregano, thyme and
garlic served over braised fennel with balsamic demi-glaze, wild mushroom ragout and glazed pumpkin
Drink: Wild Horse Canyon - Blended White Wine
Comments: The first thing that occurred to me was THIS BREAST IS HUGE! Even for first class, the chicken portion was very large. It was delicious, tender and still moist. Incredible how these things can be rewarmed so nicely onboard. The accompaniments were delicious with the chicken and provided a lot of flavour to the breast, which had no sauce of its own. Good job London food, meal, catering!

Business or leisure trip: Business
Meal type: Appetizer - Lunch
Contents of the meal: Herbed Salmon with Coriander and marinated Prawn
Drink: Wild Horse Canyon - Blended White Wine
Comments: Delicious, lite and a good opening to a nice meal. The salmon was excellent in its mayonnaise sauce and was very good with the bread. Some olive oil accompaniment would have been nice.

Route: London-Toronto - Sept 2003
Flight duration:7.5 hours
Aircraft type & class: A330-300 Executive First
Business or leisure trip: Business
Meal type: Snack before landing "Lite Bites"
Contents of the meal: King Prawn wrapped in Phyllo; Vegetable Tikka (the round thing); Mixed greens with dressing; Fruit scones, clotted cream and jam;
Drink: Orange Juice
Comments: This little snack before landing is really nice, but seems
quite unnecessary. In my experience, most of the salads go to waste and most passengers are too full to eat again. The items are nice and spicy.

Route: Toronto (YYZ) – Winnipeg (YWG), 30 Sep 2003
Ticket price: $156 CAD + $71 taxes/AIF/NAVCAN
Flight duration: 2 hours, 31 minutes
Aircraft type & class: Airbus A320, Economy (Y)
Business or leisure trip: Leisure
Meal type: Onboard Restaurant Service Snack
Contents of the meal: Heated buffalo chicken wings, fresh carrot and celery sticks, small radishes, Kraft cucumber dressing, chocolate chip cookie, slice of orange cheddar cheese (underneath cookie), plastic knife and fork, table water crackers, napkins, and a premoistened hand cleaner towel.
Drink: Coca Cola
Comments: An example of AC’s new ‘onboard restaurant service’, this snack cost $8. Very tasty and well prepared chicken wings – same taste/quality as one would get in a real restaurant/bar in downtown Toronto, however, quite messy and prone to ‘accidents’ if wearing good clothing, so perhaps not the best choice on an airplane. Chocolate chip cookie was a bit on the dry side though.
Rating 1-10 (worst-best): 8, I would perceive this meal to be good value/quality, even by on-the-ground restaurant standards. Definitely leave the sandwiches at home if this service is to be offered on your next AC flight

Route: Calgary (YYC) – Toronto (YYZ), 23 Sep 2003
Ticket price: $114 CAD + $70.62 AIF/NAVCAN/GST
Flight duration: 3 hours, 55 minutes
Aircraft type & class: Airbus A320
Business or leisure trip: Leisure
Meal: Cold chicken breast on cold pasta salad, tomato slices, Black Diamond mild cheddar cheese, Meal Mates sesame seed crackers, chocolate brownie, whole wheat bun, and grapes
Drink: Canadian Club Rye Whiskey and Coca Cola (not shown)
Comments: Excellent meal on AC146, especially on the cheap ticket. They call this a ‘light meal’ service, but very tasty, filling, and well prepared for a cold meal. Only complaint was that the FA’s were far too eager to take my half-eaten meal away, 2 hours into flight I was still nibbling on grapes.
Rating 1-10 (worst-best): 9 ; pretty hard to complain when the price of the ticket barely even covered the per passenger cost of the aviation fuel on this half-full flight

Flying from: Toronto (YYZ) to Glasgow (GLA), 26 August 2003
Flight duration: 6 hrs 35 mins
Aircraft type & class: Air Canada, boeing 767, hospitality (economy)
class, seat 14A.
Meal type: Dinner - three bean salad with dressing, herb roll with butter,
spinach and ricotta lasagne, sponge cake topped with coffee mousse,
cheese and crackers.
Drink: orange juice
Comments: lasagne was tastier than it looked but the roll could have
been warm and the dessert was rather too sweet.
Rating 1-10 (worst-best): Quite tasty for airline food although portions
on the small side. Overall - pretty good 7/10. Later, received a
breakfast snack box of yoghurt, pastry, juice and coffee. Pastry was
rather dry but otherwise fine.

Flying from: London to Toronto, August 2003
Flight duration: 7.5 hours
Aircraft type & class: 767 Executive FIRST
Meal type: Cheese and Dessert Course - Mixed cheese and dried fruit. Dessert: Blueberry Triffle
Drink: Wild Horse Canyon. Cordillera, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia. White Wine.
Comments: Excellent cheese - my favourite is the cheese with cranberries. Dessert looks a bit small and not too classy. Despite the fact it was falling part and difficult to serve, it was still quite good.
Rating 1-10 (worst-best): 9 for the cheese; 6.5 for the dessert

Flight duration: 7.5 hours
Aircraft type & class: 767 Executive FIRST
Meal type: Pre arrival snack - Mixed greens with dressing; chicken tandoori brochette; mini pizzas; fruit scones, clotted cream, preserves;
Drink: Sprite.
Comments: Very nice snack 1 hr before landing, flying somewhere over Montreal. It's a shame all the other passengers were asleep, so I took it upon myself to eat an extra large portion. So, I had all of the brochettes (with a sweet chilli sauce), mini pizzas and a nice salad. Great meal.

Flying from: London to Toronto, August 2003
Flight duration: 7.5 hours
Aircraft type & class: 767 Executive FIRST
Meal type: Late Dinner - Roasted cod with maple glaze and saffron sauce; offered with leek julienne, carrots, zucchini and parisienne potatoes
Drink: Wild Horse Canyon. Cordillera, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia. White Wine.
Comments: Excellent meal. However, the portion was quite small for an airline food-pig, such as myself. The sauce was delicious and the bread was a nan bread and olive bread, instead of the typical rolls. There was, however, no taste of maple syrup - I think this is just a marketing thing, so they can claim this is a "Canadian Specialty" dish. Very good meal, great service.
