Route: LHR - YYZ 03/07/03
Flight time: early afternoon, 5.5 hrs
Equipment, Class: 747-400 (combi?), J (main deck, forward
cabin)
Meals: Lunch, mid-flight snack, pre-landing snack
105 - pre-lunch wine and warm nuts
Lunch:
106 - main course 1 - foccacia, seared salmon fillet with a herb crust,
with prawns and grilled tomatoes in a chives cream sauce
107 - main course 2 - lemon grass rack of lamb au jus with braised red
pepper and onions with cranberries
108 - cheese course - brie and mystery blue with fruit and toasted...
what do you call those things?
109 - lemon cheese cake and coffee (mixed fresh berries with fresh cream
was the other choice - full flight - not enough to go around)
Mid-flight snack:
110 - Cheshire Farm Vanilla ice cream, coffee
Pre-landing snack:
111 - mixed green salad with italian dressing; thai style fried prawn
rolls with hot-and-sour dipping sauce (other choices available - not listed
on the menu and don't remember)
Drinks: OJ, water, tea, coffee, wines, liquours
Comments: warm nuts and wine were so-so, but still a
pleasant thing to have Lunch - good fish course - succulent prawns and
the salmon was grilled just right. Lamb was also excellent with a nice
rich flavour - well coupled with braised veggies with a kick from the
cranberries. The cheese was non-descript, though the port off-set that.
The heesecake was ok - would have preferred the berries.
Mid-flight snack: a really nice touch with the ice cream, and very rich
it
was too - there were bits of vanilla seeds in it - best not to think about
the fat content...
Pre-landing snack: a nice variety of nibbles on a tray - had a hard time
choosing. Sad to say the rolls weren't that crispy or flavourful. The
salad was good - but it's hard to muck up a salad.
Good service and valiant effort to keep things moving for a full cabin.
Rating: Lunch - 8 for the main courses, 6 for the cheese,
7 for the dessert;
Mid-flight snack - 7; Pre-landing snack - 8 for variety and effort, 6
for
the rolls. Overall service - 7

Route: YYZ - LHR (28/06/03)
Flight Time: Evening - 6.5 hrs
Equipment, Class: 747combi, Y
Meal type: Y, regular
102, 103 Dinner - dinner roll; chick pea salad; grilled chicken breast
on brown rice with greens; mystery cake; cheese and cracker
104 Breakfast - plastic box with a small raisin danish, youghurt, OJ
Drinks: Dinner - OJ, water; Breakfast - more OJ, coffee
Comments: Dinner - didn't touch the roll - hard as rock
as usual; don't much like chick peas (my seatmate should be thankful...)
but finished the rest of the salad - non-descript; the chicken looked
so-so, but it was amazingly moist and tender (pic 103 doesn't do it justice),
the rice was flavourful, and the veggies were ok; mystery desserts are
always mysterious... and what can be said about cheese and crackers in
Y?
Breakfast - Would much rather have paid for something hot and more decent.
Disappointing is about as polite as I can muster. Run-of-the-mill service
- nothing to write home about.
Rating: Dinner - 7 - mainly for the surprisingly good
chicken. Breakfast - 3 - would be 2 if it hadn't been for the decent coffee.

Business or leisure trip: Business
Meal type: Ice Cream and Ultimate Cookies
Contents of the meal: Chocolate chip and/or Oatmeal cookies; Ice Cream
(Cheshire Farm brand)
Drink: Tea
Comments: Always a nice treat during the flight whilst
watching the movies. I prefer the Hagen Dasz that is usually served as
it usually has a bit more flavour. This ice cream was a bit plain. The
cookies are always excellent.
