Route: Calgary to Frankfurt, 31 Oct 2004
Ticket price: $1500 CAN (return)
Flight duration: 9 hours
Aircraft type & class: 767 economy
Business or leisure trip: business
Meal type: standard economy meal
Contents of the meal: tossed salad, chicken in some sort of thick sauce,
vegetables, bottled water, dinner roll, ice cream for dessert (not pictured)
Drink: choice of soft drinks, juice or wine (at no cost)
Comments: Very mundane meal with little taste. The sauce on the chicken
was overly sweet. The chicken was your typical tough processed chicken.
One plus was that the vegetables were a bit on the crispy side, which
I prefer. Dinner roll was stale. The salad was limp, but had a very good
standard Kraft dressing (cucumber I think). Whoever thought that it was
a good idea to serve ice cream to passengers trapped in their seats for
a nine-hour flight? A good way to cause stomach discomfort and indigestion.
The service was generally pleasant, but nothing spectacular. Air Canada
FAs usually only have one speed - extra slow.

George W. Bush “world-is-a-safer-place-now” Plastic Knives
Comments: Plastic knives in business class indicate paranoia and
are simply silly. Considering the regular (rather blunt) metal airline

may do more harm…let alone the ferocious nail clipper or the mass-destructive
cork screw. Get a life, Air Canada! Air China, in comparison, does not
believe in such humbug: they provided metal knives.

The salad was very plain, and the desert very ordinary. The wine was very
average. The roll was cold and chewy. If there is anyone from Air Canada
reading this, I know an Airbus 340 costs a lot of money, so next time
you buy one, please, please ask for a bread warmer. A nice warm bread
roll makes such a difference, and while the rolls are warming, you can
soften the butter.
