Flying from: Auckland to Sydney, 13 January 2003
Aircraft type & class: Boeing 767-200 Economy
Meal type: Breakfast - Yoghurt, fruit compote, spiced
fruit roll, sweetcorn, potato and cheese omelette with fried bacon.
Drink: Juice, coffee
Comments: "The coffee was possibly the worst I've
ever tasted! The omelette arrived with a small, barely cooked piece of
bacon artistically draped over the top. The omelette was rubbery and the
filling was bizarre - why sweetcorn? Although having seen the amount of
the stuff that grows in NZ maybe this is one way of getting rid of it.
Ploughed my way through gamely but was glad of the roll. The fruit compote
looked unappetising - prunes don't appeal to ANYONE under the age of 65!"
Rating 1-10 (worst-best): 2 for the coffee; 4 for the
rest

Flying from: Auckland to Sydney, 13 January 2003
Aircraft type & class: Boeing 767-200 Economy
Meal type: Breakfast - Cereal and milk, yoghurt, spiced
fruit roll, seasonal fruit platter.
Drink: Coffee/tea with a juice 'starter'
Comments: "The cereal tasted like something from
the bottom of the bird cage and the yoghurt was thin, sour and definitely
not made from a contented cow! The roll was tasty and still warm and with
the butter melting gently on top it was easily the best part of the meal!
The fruit had no taste and could have been prepared a week earlier. Not
very inspiring Air NZ!!!"

Meal type: Breakfast - An egg omlette, with a baked tomato
and potato gems, accompanied with a muffin, yoghurt and fresh fruit (orange,
pineapple, honeydrew and cantalope)
Drink: Orange Juice

good meal compared to other airline breakfasts I've had."

Flying from: Auckland, New Zealand to Sydney, September

Class: Economy
Meal type: Lunch - Warmed bagel with Tuscany chicken
and mozzarella cheese, tabbouleh salad with cucumber and tomato on baby
greens, spotty roll with butter, crackers with cheddar cheese, and a tiny
100ml tub of honey-kiwi ice cream
Drink: Mineral water, Corban's Sauvignon Blanc
Comments: "A scientific and culinary crucifixion
that alleged chicken and alleged mozzarella thingy. Last time I checked,
chicky 'n cheese weren't like that in Italia. This was nothing more than
a cold, greasy, filthy burger. Praise be to the frisky salad and dousings
of Sauvignon Blanc - the consuming graces. Best bit - the tray being taken
away."
Rating 1-10 (worst-best): 4 (for the frisky salad)

Class: Economy
Meal type: Lunch - Baked beef, spinach and onion jam
filo parcel, tabbouleh salad with cucumber and tomato on baby greens,
speckled roll with butter, crackers with cheddar cheese, and a wee 100ml
tub of honey-kiwi ice cream
Drink: Mineral water, spiced tomato juice
Comments: "A scientific and culinary revelation
that beef filo parcel - tender, juicy, dead tasty and scoffingly offset
by the onion jam. What a frisky salad - fresh, crunchy and appreciated.
A wee tub of ice-cream is an economic slap in the face - bring back those
real desserts. Best bit - the frisky salad."

Class: Economy
Meal type: Breakfast - French toast with bacon, maple
syrup, apricot yogurt, fruit medley of pawpaw (papaya), grapefruit, grape
and watermelon, white roll with strawberry jam and butter
Drink: Orange juice and tea
Comments: "The poor, wee French - nothing to toast.
Three slices of soggy bread with slivers of unhappy bacon embarrassingly
tucked in. All very sad, tragic and miserly, made worse by forgetting
to douse it all out with the maple syrup. Best bit - the tray being taken
away."

mushrooms in a tomato and onion concasse, tomato, maple syrup, apricot
yoghurt, fruit medley of pawpaw (papaya), grapefruit, grape, and watermelon,

Drink: Orange juice and tea
Comments: "What a poor, wee sausage - harder than
Latin, omelette was superbly yellow for that early morning visual wake
up call - everything else fine if it's doused with faux maple syrup. Best
bit - Cook Islands pawpaw (yum)"
Rating 1-10 (worst-best): 6.5 - you can't beat quantity
