Route: ADZ - YUL, 9 Feb 2006
Ticket price: 1720 $ (240 $ extra round trip in an all-inclusive package)
Flight duration: 5h 00m
Class: business
Aircraft: Airbus 320
Meal: Lunch - Before takeoff, we were served a Champagne and juice drink.
The starter is a salad of tomatoes slices with feta cheese (picture 1).
Then, for main course, we had three choices: Thai chicken saute, beef
saute or pasta meal. I chose the chicken stew. I chose the chicken meal
(picture 2). For red wine, we had choice between a 2001 Merlot or 2001
Cabernet Sauvignon. As for the white, options were between a 2001 Chardonnay
or white Sauvignon.
Dessert was a profiterole (picture 2) and we were served unlimited digestives.
It was either Grand Marnier, Bailey's or Bacardi rhum. As per recommendation
by my fellow travellers, I've decided to mix Grand Marnier and Bailey's
(picture 3).
Beers like Heineken and wine was offered during all the flight, even after
lunch.
Drink: Champagne, beers, wine, strong liquors, juices, soft drinks
Comments: -Champagne and orange juice was nice.
-Starter was just o.k. Portion could be better.
-The main course was acceptable, compared to economy class (they had a
cold Subway submarine), but could be better. Main course was comparing
to a high-end airline economy class, but quite not like a real business
class.
-Choice and quality of wine was very nice. It was really above average
wine.
-Service was very attentive. Flight attendants were striving to give the
best service they could and it was showing. They were proactive. For instance,
they were coming at your seat asking if you would like to eat something
more or get another drink. That was very professional and compared to
most other airlines business class.

Meal: Hot Lunch
Penne in Marinara Sauce au gratin. Mixed bean salad and lemon cake.
Comments: This is the vegetarian alternative to the chicken. Air
Transat caters 10% of it's economy class caseroles as vegetarian . This
is done only done out of the Western stations (YVR, YYC and YEG) due to
the high amount of vegetarians in western Canada. If heated properly I
give this meal a 7. If overcooked it's no more than a 4.

Appetizer consisting of: Mixed green salad with peppers, tomatos and a
slice of cheese. Dressing is a Balsamic Vinaigrette. Camembert cheese
and crackers. Desert is a chocolate coffee cake with a strawberry on top.
Comments: As of June 1st, 2004 Air Transat has re-designed it's
Club Transat service. The new service has significantly improved upon
the quality and quantity of meals served in this cabin. The meal service
starts with an appetizer. It follows with your choice of breads and a
selection of 4 wines to accompany your meal. After the appetizer your
main course of which you have 4 to choose from is served. Once again accompanied
by a wine and bread selection. Rounded off with coffee and tea.

other leisure airlines with J class service)

Meal Type: Hot Lunch
Thai Chicken with rice and vegetables
Drink: Red Wine
Comments: The Food was very good and tasty, the
tomato and boconccini cheese was great, the chicken was tender and the
rice was perfectly cooked, the desert was the best, white chocolate profiterole.
The service was very attentive and the crew was very efficient. The only
thing is the space in business class seat was very thigh, I could not
get up without having my neighbor also get up, and if the person in front
was reclining her seat the space was very cramp. seating configuration
was 2-3-2, other airline on the same aircraft in business class have 2-2-2.
The seat pitch was not up to business travelers.

1 - blueberry yogurt

3 - herb roasted potatoes, cheese omelet, salsa, grilled ham
4 - (not shown) fresh toasted croissant
Drink: Champagne.
Comments: Fruit was ripe and flavourful, omelet
was great with real cheese, croissant was delicious. Potatoes tasty, but
a little bit salty. Salsa was the weakest part of the meal - not horrible,
but definitely not wonderful. Club Class is definitely worth the extra
$225 on the basic ticket - great leather seats with a decent amount of
legroom, and fantastic service.
