Flying from: San Jose, CA to Tokyo NRT, 24 December 2002 X'mas eve
Aircraft type & class: B-777 Business Class
Meal type: Lunch - (Starters) Carrot-glazed Chicken and Salad (w/individual bottle of olive oil and balsamic vinegar dressing). (Main) Filet Mignon w/mustard caper demi-glace sauce, carrot slices and lemon mashed potatoes (Japanese rice provided upon request). I opted for Baileys coffee for dessert.
Drink: Bloody Mary
Comments: Attentive and timely service. Heated cocktail nuts, only served in First on other airlines I've been on, with ample refills was a nice touch. The tenderloin was just right!

Flying from: New York to Long Beach, 24 October 2002
Class: Coach
Meal type: Dinner (Snack) - Roasted turkey sandwich on a whole wheat bun, Lays Classic potato chips, Bunny-Luv carrots, Chocolate Chunk cookie
Drink: Water (they were out of ginger ale)
Comments: "No dinner on the red-eye to New York. They did offer a rather toasty roasted turkey sandwich that was too hot to eat (note the scorch marks on the wrapper) Ouch! Can't beat Lay's chips for the oil, salt and fat for a good healthy diet. Mmmm. Bunny-Luv carrots are delicious, I actually buy them at the market and their organic! The cookie was good and chunky (and I would be too if I ate enough of them). Washed down with a couple of glasses of bottled water. Night night, I slept the rest of the flight."

Class: Coach
Meal type: Lunch (Snack-in-the-box) - Euphrates wheat crackers, cheese spread, a brownie w/ Oreo cookies mixed in, and a red apple.
Drink: Canada Dry ginger ale
Comments: "Use the red tab and open the cheese, dip the crackers in the cheese spread, open mouth, insert, chew, take a swig of ginger ale, repeat until finished. Once done with the trip down the Euphrates, it took me a couple of moments to decide whether or not I should eat the apple or the brownie next. Is an apple desert? Should it come after the brownie? The brownie is technically the desert but if eaten before the apple, then the apple becomes the final desert course. I could use the apple to cleanse the palate prior to the moist and scrumptious brownie. Oh what to do? I ate the brownie and saved the apple for later. By the way, the apple was delicious. Who is selecting the fruit on these flights?"

Flying from: New York to Long Beach, 24 October 2002
Class: Coach
Meal type: Breakfast - Spanish omelet w/ Canadian bacon (go figure), cantaloupe, very small bagel w/ cream cheese spread.
Drink: Orange Juice
Comments: "Okay, what is up with the Spanish omelet and Canadian bacon? I suppose it's along the same lines as a Canadian bacon and pineapple pizza, someone thought the two go together. The omelet had melted cheese and peppers throughout. The cheese was runny and not very good. The bacon was on the oily side. The cantaloupe was tasty, someone is doing a good job selecting the fruit. The bagel was small and like rubber. The OJ helped it all go down. Well, not "all." I only ate half. But I did finish my fruit!"

Flying from: Dallas to Honolulu, 20 September 2002
Class: Coach (767)
Meal type: Lunch, Vegetarian by Request - Warm Dish consisting of rice, a second rice dish (mixed rice), a mixed vegetable medley and a small cup of spicy tomato sauce. A roll, a salad with French dressing, fresh fruit, and a cinnamon "crisp" for desert.
Drink: Soft drinks and Juices
Comments: "The three types of rice and the vegetable medley were properly cooked and spiced, and moderately tasty. The Marinara Sauce did help the dish a little more. The role was dry and fairly tasteless, even with the "butter spread". The salad was crisp and the dressing was pleasant. The fresh fruit was hard and not very sweet, but tolerable. The warm portions of the dish were served warm, and the chilled portions of the dish were served chilled, which was nice. This was a better meal than I expected, and frankly, I think a better meal than everyone else got (Chicken vs. Lasagna)."

Flying from: San Francisco SFO to Chicago ORD, 26 September 2002
Class: First
Meal type: Lunch - Warm nuts and cocktails were followed by a generous size, sort of Greek salad which was served from a salad bowl on the cart, into your plate at the seat. Two choices of dressing were offered, I had creamy Italian-the other was a peppercorn ranch dressing. Following the salad, we had a choice of Chicken Gumbo or a Steak sandwich. I chose the steak sandwich, which was a nice fairly thick steak, with diagonal slices through it. It was served on a plain roll
and actually I would call it more of a French Dip than a steak sandwich, especially with the warm au jus served on the side. Also on the plate was a cold bean salad. Following the main course was a dessert choice of a fruit plate or ice cream sundae with your choice of syrups and toppings, served in a cocktail tumbler. I selected the fruit, which was small and basic, but fresh and tasty. It was adequate following the meal, which the Flight Attendants did a good job of serving with a classy presentation.
Drink: California Napa Valley red wine
Comments: "I thought they did a nice job, though the service for this 4-hour flight is not as elaborate as it was a few years ago. The salad was very good and had lots of olives. The sandwich was reasonable, though I've certainly had better. The au jus saved it, having a very nice flavor."

Flying from: St.Louis STL to San Francisoco SFO, 29 September 2002
Class: First
Meal type: Light lunch - Grilled Chicken Breast Salad with pasta, tomatoes, artichoke hearts, olives, butter lettuce and creamy garlic dressing. On the side were a roll and butter, and a bean salad. Ice cream was served for dessert in a cocktail tumbler.
Drink: Beer
Comments: "It was a 3pm mid-afternoon flight. One of my schedules called the meal service a "snack", the other "Lunch". I would call it a light lunch. The presentation was very nice and the food was actually excellent."

Flying from: Cancun CUN to New York JFK, 15 September 2002
Class: Coach (757)
Meal type: Dinner - Rather fresh salad with nice dressing, but awful chicken with dry rice and bland brocoli. There was a roll with butter that was a bit dry, but if you put the butter on the chicken it became almost edible. The meal to Cancun was great but this one was bad. Pasta was also offered and I hear it was a better choice. It came with two chocolates (one milk and one dark). I am partial to milk chocolate so I only liked that one. The dark chocolate had rasperry filling.
Drink: Wide choice of drinks. I had Ginger Ale, as is my custom when flying.
Comments: "Really AA needs to have better consistancy... if they offered the Pot Roast on this flight I'd be thrilled."
