Class: economy
Aircraft: De Havilland Canada DHC-8-402Q Dash 8
Meal: Snack (purchased) - Salami/Parmesian Cheese Sandwitch (5euros), Choclate Bar (free)
Drink: Austrian White Wine (3.5euros), Black Coffee (free)
Comments: The flight was charming, a qiute spacoius turboprop at dusk over europe, excellent. The FA's offered free water, tea or coffee. Coffee was horrible (cold and old) I purchased the sandwitch which was heated. It was crisp and delicous with a good touch of Oregano, however pricey (8/10). The white wine was fantastic (8/10).

Ticket price: 187.- incl. taxes
Flight duration: 1:15
Aircraft type & class: Dash 4, Economy
Business or leisure trip: Business
Meal type: Snack
Generous filled baguette (EUR4), chocolate bar
Drink: Water
Comments: I was very happy to catch a special fare ticket (EUR 110) :-)) - baguette was good and enough, tiny water bottle and chocolate bar free of charge.
I'm not very happy with the introduction of the SkyBistro service - it's just bad, nothing else.
Rating 1-10 (worst-best): 7 for the baguette, 10 for the free bottle of water and the milky-way, 8 for the price, 7 for the crew and 0 for the food, meal, catering-product itself

Comments: I liked that they served coffee/tea in the morning. For a 30 minutes trip, which means 15 minutes serving time, that´s more than enough. The Earl Grey Tea was very good.

Route: Vienna - Munich, 21 Jun 2004
Ticket price: 105 EUR (BRE-FRA-VIE-MUC-BRE)
Flight duration: 45 min
Aircraft type & class: Fokker 70, economy
Business or leisure trip: business
Meal type: drink + chocolate-bar
Drink: bottle of mineral-water
Comments:
"Austrian introduces its new Sky-BISTRO" - as you can read on the menu in your seat-pocket. But they do not offer this on the way to Munich. "You can get a 0,2 l bottle of still mineral water for free on request" - they continue in this menu. And that is exactly the fact: it is not possible to get a glass or straw and you have to ask for the free bottle. But, oh yeah, they come around with a mini-chocolate bar! Very poor, Austrian!

Business or leisure trip?: Leisure
Meal type: Light meal
Contents of the meal?: Prawn Cocktail with Bread roll (Euro 6.50)
Drink: Free 200ml bottle of water
Comments: This was my first experience of the new Austrian Arrows 'Sky Bistro' food service. I wasn't that hungry but for Airlinemeals.net, I thought that I would try out what was on offer. It cost me 6.5 Euros and was surprisingly good. The prawn cocktail actually looked like the picture in the menu and prawns were big. Overall, it was a pleasant light meal. This was much better than the free meals that used to be served by Tyrolean. My return flight from LHR - VIE was cheap so I didn't mind paying for the meal...

Route: FRA - INN, 27 Dec 2003
Ticket price: 268,81 € for DUS-FRA-INN-VIE-DUS
Flight duration: 55 minutes
Aircraft type & class: Dash 8 - 300 Economy Class
Business or leisure trip: Leisure trip
Meal type: Cold meal
Contents of the meal: noodle salad with shrimps and vegetables
Drink: nothing
Comments: Since november last year, AUA has got a new service concept. As a result of this meals and drinks (except water) has to be bought on board.
Only on those flights that last over 1:40 h service is included. The small salad costs 5,- € and I think this is too much compared to the quantity of food. Nevertheless the salad was fresh and tasted very well.
Rating 1-10 (worst-best): 0 for the fact that food hat to be bought on board .... 5 for the salad .... 3 altogether

Aircraft type & class: Canadair CRJ 100, Y Class
Business or leisure trip: Leisure
Meal type: Main meal
Contents of the meal: Salad with ham and cheese stripes, cherry tomatoes and paprika and bread
Drink: Coffee and soft drinks
Comments: The new concept of Austian Airlines Group of simplified food is quite disappointing, especially on longer short haul routes. But passengers should be happy to get even a small meal for free, which is otherwise charged at between 4 to 6 EUR on flights up to 1:15 hrs.

Route: Vienna (VIE) to Warsaw (WAW), 24 Nov 2003
Flight duration: 1:30
Aircraft type & class: Dash 4, Economy
Business or leisure trip: Leisure
Meal type: Breakfast
Contents of the meal: Tiny little "Milky Way" bar.
Drink: Nothing.
Comments: It was an Austrian Airlines flight operated by Austrian Arrows - ex. Tyrolean. I was shocked after what I saw! It is absolutely not a low-cost airline, and that's what you get for the early morning breakfast: a tiny chocolate bar and a menu, from which you can choose a meal, which is charged! Even a simple glass of water will cost you EUR 2,00 - just look at their choice. Unbelievable! I really have nothing against flying short distance without food. I even like flying without any services on board. But it needs to go together with appropriate low price, not EUR 390, like this one, but 10 times less!!! Especially when buying an Austrian Airlines ticket I require certain level of on-board services, which I got used to after my hundreds of flights. Shame, shame, huge shame Austrian Group!!! According to their web-page you can expect this type of meal in economy on every flight between 1:00 and 1:40 hour.
Rating 1-10 (worst-best): Absolute zero!!!
