Flying from: Nice NCE to London LHR, 2 February 2003
Aircraft type & class: Airbus A320, Club Europe
Meal type: Lunch - Choice of warm salmon fish cake or warm lamb - I took one of each. Served on a salad bed with spring onions, tomato and balsamic vinegar dressing. Salmon fish cake was OK, lamb was a bit tough. Those plastic knives do struggle. Bread selection was surprisingly good: I had an olive roll but it was tiny. Dessert was a summer fruit tart which was OK, but not stunning. Cheese next time please BA.
Drink: Piper Heidsick Champagne (NV). Four drinks rounds - well done!
Rating 1-10 (worst-best): 7 for the taste, 9 for the presentation and number of drinks rounds

Flying from: London LHR to Nice NCE, 1 February 2003
Aircraft type & class: Airbus A319, Club Europe
Meal type: Lunch - Warm rack of lamb on salad with feta cheese and lentils: the lamb tasted great but was rather too fatty for my liking. I couldn't get excited over the lentils, but the balsamic vinegar salad dressing was good. Dessert was cold apricot on a suet base and cold custard, which was surprisingly not bad, although I'd have preferred it warm. I hope one day BA decide to do cheese as well like British Midland.
Drink: Piper Heidsick Champagne (NV). Only one drink procession, but extra was available 'on request'.

Flying from: Brussels BRU to London LHR, 26 January 2003
Aircraft type & class: Airbus A320, Club Europe
Meal type: Dinner - Cold cooked salmon on a bed of salad and new potatoes with balsamic vinegar dressing, OK but not particularly awe inspiring. They
had no choice of meal but I was sitting at the rear of Club so I guess they'd run out of alternatives. No Dessert. Well done to BA to provide anything at all on such a short flight (scheduled 70 minutes). It was a rush to stuff it down because they arrived ten minutes early.
Drink: Piper Heidsick Champagne.

Flying from: London LHR to Brussels BRU, 25 January 2003
Aircraft type & class: Airbus A319, Club Europe
Meal type: Breakfast - Cooked English Breakfast which tasted yummy despite the presentation in a tin foil dish. Unfortunately I purchased a sandwich because groundstaff told me there'd be nothing on such a short flight (scheduled 70 minutes).
Drink: Orange juice, Coffee
Rating 1-10 (worst-best): 9 for the taste, 5 for the presentation

Flying From: Orlando to London, 24 January 2003
Aircraft type: Boeing 777 & Class Economy
Meal type: Dinner (free evening meal)
Drink: French Wine (not bad free with meal)
Comments: This is BA's good old English dinner known as Bangers & Mash it may look a bit grim but the taste of the sausages was exquisite. The two male flight attendants appearance was immaculate and they kept my wife and I topped up with lots of free drinks, but as I write these comments I am sober as a judge.

Flying from: Rome FCO to London LHR, 22 December 2002
Aircraft type & class: Airbus 319, Club Europe
Meal type: "Dinner - Snack: two small potato snacks with full beverage service - Dinner: Starter - Small prawn salad with unknown dressing / Main - Steak with Pesto sauce on a bed of salad with olive oil & balsamic vinegar dressing / Dessert - Vanilla blancmanche with raspberry coulis and 1/2 strawberry
Drink: Piper Heidseick Champagne (NV), Red wine (didn't get the label)
Comments: Potato snacks were tasty but unexciting. The prawn salad starter was OK but again not particularly adventurous, with the dressing being rather
tasteless. The steak was saved by the pesto on top of it. The plastic knife struggled to cut it, but that was due to the low quality knife rather than the toughtness of the meat. The salad bed was large but lacklustre. The desert was pretty tasty, and the 1/2 strawberry was firm and fresh. The wines were OK but uninspiring. No shortage of beverage fill ups but unfortunately I had to abstain as I had to drive at the other end. The experience reminded me of why British food is not world reknowned."

Flying from: LHR to YVR, 6 December 2002
Aircraft type & class: 747-400, First Class
Meal type: Dinner - Starter: Potted Thai style crab with ginger guava salsa - Main: Sirloin of veal with caramelised apples and Calvados sauce and
seasonal vegetables - Selection of cheeses
Dessert: Panettone and marmalade pudding
Drink: Clos du Moulin 1er Cru (in lounge); Krug Brut, Grande Cuvee (on board); Tanqueray No. Ten Gin & tonic; Sancerre Cuvee Megalithe, 2000, Domaine de la Perriere; Chateau Desmirail, 1996, Grand Cru Classe Margeaux; Chateau Filhot, 1997, Grand Cru Classe Sauternes; Very, very large Baileys.
Comments:
"In the Concorde lounge the Clos du Moulin Champagne was good, but I'd prefer BA to quit surprising me by changing the champagne in the lounge while I'm in there! On board, the Krug started me off followed by a sneaky but refreshing Tanqueray No. Ten and tonic squeezed in before dinner. The Potted Thai style crab was good but nothing special. The bread selection was very, very limited for some reason, and what there was was disappointing - I think it'd been shipped in from the back. The Sancerre improved the experience no end! The Sirloin of veal again was nothing spectacular. Saved
again by the wine - the Margeaux is wonderful. Cheese was good, but the lack of tasty bread let this down, recovered by the attentive cabin crew
continually maintaining a substantial flow of Margeaux. A wonderful surprise was the Panettone and Marmalade pudding (bread & butter pudding to you and me) which, when complimented by the custard and Sauternes was as close to sublime as you can get at 35,000 feet. The Baileys served afterward must
have been a full half pint, and knocked me out for the rest of the flight. Special thanks to flight attendent Jerry, who by serving me perfectly, brought the score up from a mediocre 7 to an excellent 9."

Aircraft type & class: 747-400, First Class
Meal type: Dinner - Starter: Smoked Duck, hot mango and fig parcel with mango chive cream - Main: Grilled rack of lamb, minted pea mash and red win cracked pepper sauce, Selection of cheese
Drink: Gin & Tonic (Beefeater in the lounge, Tanqueray No. Ten on board); Krug Brut, Grande Cuvee; Sancerre Cuvee Megalithe, 2000, Domaine de la Perriere; Chateau Desmirail, 1996, Grand Cru Classe Margeaux; Very large Baileys.
Comments:
"The Beefeater gin and champagne in the lounge disappointing. On board, the Tanqueray No. Ten left the Beefeater miles behind, although I had to ask for some more tonic as it nearly blew my head off first swig. The duck starter was good (forgot to take pic). Warmed bread selection was
fantastic, still warm and moist, except they ran out of olive bread - my favourite. The main course was the second best airline meal I've ever had
(first was a Qantas FC curry a couple of years ago from SYD to SIN). The lamb had been marinated and was better than many Michelin starred attempts
on the ground. Outstanding. Cheese, especially the sharp blue, was excellent with plenty of freshly warmed bread and biscuits available. Wines were
fantastic, especially the Sancerre and the Margeaux. The enormous quadruple Baileys they served at the end finally sent me off to sleep. Fantastic."

Flying from: Washington to London LHR, 16 August 2002
Class: Club World
Meal type: Dinner - Salad starter with Fresh Mozarella cheese (not shown), chicken with saffron rice and asparagus, Apple tart with pistachios in a custard sauce as dessert, Herbed bread rolls
Drink: Champagne; coffee
Comments: This was a perfect airline meal. Not too heavy, well presented. The salad was excellent, and the chicken really quite edible with a nice heady scent of saffron. The asparagus was not overcooked, and the sauce quite delicious. They also had a cheese platter after the meal, but you had to ask for it.
Rating 1-10 (worst-best): 9 for the meal; 10 for the Champagne; 10 for the service during dinner; 9 for the presentation (1 point off for the idiotic plastic cutlery the FAA believes will protect us all).
