Route: LHR- Rome FCO / FCO-LGW, 31 Oct - 03 Nov 2003
Ticket price: £89 (grabbed during a 1 Day BA sale
in June)
Flight duration: 2.5hrs
Aircraft type & class: A320 outbound and B737 inbound
- Economy
Business or leisure trip: Holiday!
Meal type: Lunch/Dinner - The exact same meal for both
flights!!
The new ALL DAY DELI, but no longer
in a bag! Warmed Olive and Tomato Ciabatta with either Cheese or Ham and
Cheese, Fruit Cocktail in fruit juice, Sultana Fairy Cup Cake, 2 finger
Kit Kat Bar, Water.
Drink: Juice & Tea. Free Soft Drinks and Alcoholic
Drinks available for those asked.
Comments: On the outbound flight the crew passed out
the All Day Deli boxes first and then returned a few minutes later with
the Ciabatta rolls. We were offered a choice of either Ham and Cheese
or just Cheese. On the Inbound they just gave us Cheese rolls (perhaps
no Ham ones left as this was the last flight of the day!) at the same
time as passing out the boxes. On the flight to Rome, the rolls weren't
warmed for long enough, so you kept gettings slightly cold and slightly
warmed bits. Going back to London it was warmed through. The roll is a
bit disappointing in it's size and taste compared to other sandwiches
and rolls I've had on BA flights (normally London to Amsterdam) where
they have been quite tasty. The bits in the Deli Box made up for the volume
side. The fruit cocktail, cake and Kit Kat were fine. One thing I am worried
about is there is what appears to be a date on the packaging on the roll
that could be an expiry date - it's listed as April 2004!
Rating 1-10 (worst-best): 6.75 - adequate for the time
of day/length of flight, but the roll could of been slightly bigger and
more tastier.

Comments: This would have to be one of the worst flight
experiences I have ever had. The crew were rude, unfriendly, no smile
and you had the feeling that anything you asked for was a huge chore.
It doesn't matter whether you are flying first class or economy, you expect
the crew to be well mannered and polite at the very least. Shame on you,
BA!
Rating 1-10 (worst-best): 9 for the food, 1 for the terrible
service.
