Comments: Sorry the pictures aren't in order. I didn't
like the cold appetiser. The caviar was wonderful as usual. I then had
the lobster bisque which was one of the best seafood soups I have had
in a while (on and off the ground) It was so good in fact, I had another
serve instead of the Grilled Prawn and Scallop Skewer with Black Bean
Sauce served with Steamed Rice and Kailan (main course) that I had originally
ordered. My partner had the gnocchi but he said it wasn't very nice. I
had a slither of the New York Cheesecake with Strawberry Sauce which was
great (not pictured). Moist and melt in the mouth. In the middle of the
flight I had the pizza for a snack which was crisp and quite good. Their
Cathay Delight Cocktail is so refreshing and light and the touch of mint
finishes the drink off nicely.
Breakfast was standard, even though the eggs were freshly cooked. On
previous flights, I'd had my eggs fried or boiled which I think are much
better. The fruits were delicious especially the papaya. As usual, the
service and presentation of Cathay are top class.

Comments: This was my first time in first class and so
I was expecting something special. The caviar was fantastic, served to
you from the trolley and the scallop appetizer (not pictured) served before
take-off was a great start to the flight. Unfortunately the rest of the
meal wasn't that much better than I've had in business/ economy. The soup
was bland and the steak was just warm. I didn't expect overcooked vegetables
in First Class but I guess there is only so much you can do with re-heating
food in the air. I didn't have any room for dessert but after a few hours
of relaxing I managed to fit in Noodle Soup with Chicken, Chinese Mushroom
and Pak Choy and Ice Cream with Fresh Berries just before landing.
Rating 1-10 (worst-best): 8 (mainly for the caviar, champagne
and Shanghai Tang Pyjamas they give you to wear!)
