Flight duration: 4 hours
Aircraft type & class: B-757 Int'l Config.
Meal type: Lunch - Warm Nuts; Salad; Fish; Ice Cream
Drink: Coke; Water

Flying from: Houston-Intercontinental (IAH) to Newark (EWR), 18 May 2003
Ticket price: $420 B fare
Flight duration: 3h 15m
Aircraft type & class: Boeing 767-224/ER Coach Class
Meal type: Dinner - Lay's potato chips, baby carrots, Pecan Delight, and the (in)famous Meatloaf Sandwich.
Drink: Complete drink service
Comments: I actually was looking forward to this meal, we had a tight connection in IAH due to the transfer from Terminal B to C, so I didn't get a chance to eat as they were doing general boarding by the time we got to the gate. Chips, carrots, and candy were fine, but the meatloaf sandwich was a little soggy by the time they got to my row. Still, I was hungry so I ate, and actually didn't find it that bad. I think the Cheeseburger is worse.
Rating 1-10 (worst-best): 7. Good meal for a medium haul.

Flying from: Houston-Intercontinental (IAH) to Tucson (TUS), 16 May 2003
Ticket price: $420 B fare
Flight duration: 2h 10m
Aircraft type & class: Boeing 737-524 Coach Class
Meal type: Lunch snack - Carrots, Pecan Delight bar, turkey sandwich, "Tiger Sauce" packet.
Drink: Complete drink service
Comments: Standard CO 3h and under Lunch/Dinner in Coach. As usual the sandwich was good, but small. Hard to screw this one up. Again, it's nice that Continental offers something complimentary to eat on a route where the competition gives you packet of peanuts and a drink.
Rating 1-10 (worst-best): 7 for offering something to eat

Flying from: Newark (EWR) to Houston-Intercontinental (IAH), 16 May 2003
Ticket price: $420 (B fare, upgraded)
Flight duration: 3h 50m
Aircraft type & class: Boeing 767-424/ER BusinessFirst
Meal type: Breakfast - Starter plate consisted of sliced grapefruit, canteloupe, honeydew, orange, and strawberries. Delicious warm biscuits or croissants were delivered after photo was taken. Main course was either a bowl of cereal or eggs. I took the eggs which was a cheese omelette served with potatoes, a sausage patty, and some bacon.
Drink: Full Bar service
Comments: Fruit was juicy and pretty good, especially the strawberry. Biscuit was delicious, the best I've ever had in the air. I must have had 3 or 4, the flight attendant noticed I liked them. Eggs were typical airline eggs, cheese was a little runny but decent. Potatoes were spicy but cooked well, as was sausage. Bacon was disgusting, didn't even bother.
Rating 1-10 (worst-best): 10 for the biscuits, 7 for everything else.

Flying from: Newark (EWR) to Sarasota/Bradenton (SRQ), 17 April 2003
Ticket price: $465 a month out (K fare)
Flight duration: 2h 35m
Aircraft type & class: Boeing 737-3T0 Coach Class
Meal type: Dinner Snack - Cookies, Carrots, Turkey Sandwich with Mayonnaise
Drink: Complete drink service
Comments: Solid meal for a short flight, cost cutting is evident with Shop-Rite (food store here in the Northeast) Brand cookies and carrots, but I had no problem with either. Sandwich was small but tasted fresh. Good effort by CO considering their competitors either sell meals on routes like this or do not offer any whatsoever.
Rating 1-10 (worst-best): 6

Flying from: Newark (EWR) to Houston-Intercontinental (IAH), 13 February 2003
Ticket price: T fare upgraded to First Class as part of a vacation package
Flight duration: 3h 45m
Aircraft type & class: Boeing 777-224/ER, BusinessFirst
Meal type: Medium Haul First Class Dinner - Starter of Smoked Almonds (photo 118), followed by Legal Sea Foods Lobster Bisque and oyster crackers, with choice of Grilled Chicken Sandwich (photo 119) with sauteed mushrooms, roasted red pepper, Monterey Jack cheese, pickle, and cole slaw; or (photo 120) Chicken Caesar salad. Dessert was a peanut butter cheesecake with chocolate, caramel, and sliced walnuts (photo 121).
Drink: Anything you wanted, refilled constantly
Comments: The main attraction to this flight was the new BusinessFirst seat on the 777, which I must say blows all Business Class competition out of the water. It was really a treat, even on such a short flight. The meal was standard for a non-transcon flight over 3 hours with CO in the wintertime, and while it wasn't really a filling dinner, it held me over until I could get something to eat on the ground. Legal Sea Foods lobster bisque was good, but a bit buttery. Sandwich was small but had a nice blend of flavors. My seatmate had the salad so I can't comment on that, but he did say the chicken was a little rubbery. Best part had to be the cheesecake, it was outstanding.
Rating 1-10 (worst-best): 6, I'd expect a bit more food for a flight of this duration, but I can't complain, this is more food than even Delta offers in F on 5-hour transcons out of ATL!
