Meal type: Dinner and Breakfast
Drink: bottled water, Glenmorangie Scotch, DOMAIN DE
LARIVET 1999 Bourdaux, Noval Late Bottled Vintage
Port, Courvoisier VSOP Cognac
Comments: Really exceptional service provided by the
Continental crew, both on ground and in the air.
Cabin service was exemplary and I always believe the
tone is set by the purser. Sorry some pictures are a
little fuzzy, it was a new camera I bought that day.
Meal was pretty good and well paced. The veal was
tough though and I did not get a picture of the extra
green beans served. So skimpy, they looked lost in
the dish. Presentation of the main leaves much to be
desired, as you can see. The cheese and port, VERY
good as was the made to order ice cream sundae.
Breakfast good, but they ran out of sweet rolls by the
time they got to my seat on row 3. Fruit very fresh
and ripe and the omelet really tasted much better than
it looked.

Contents of the meal: Chicken marsala, small salad, a roll, banana-ish

Drink: Cranberry juice
Comments: Actually, not as bad as it looks. But, also not great. The sauce
was pretty good and thought it's hard to get rolls wrong, it was pretty
dry. The salad was small, but all in all, this was enough to fill me up.

Business or leisure trip: Business
Meal type: Dinner
Contents of the meal: Philly-style cheesesteak, Cole Slaw, potato chips,
Pepperidge Farm Milano cookies, mayo packet for some reason
Drink: Water and coke
Comments: Words fail. When someone mentioned to a flight attendant that
the food was bad, the response was, "We're the only ones serving
meals." If I fly Continental again (and I hope I won't), I'll know
to bring my own food anyway. By the way, a Philly cheesesteak is actually
made from thin slices of steak. This was more like a McDonald's Sausage
McMuffin. Note the processing marks on both the meat and the roll. Untouched
by human hands is the best thing you can say about this. Even better was
the flight to Seattle, when they served a stromboli (melted cheese wrapped
in soft bread - see CO photo 202 on this site) with both potato salad
and potato chips. The healthiest thing in both meals was the cookies.
Or not eating.

Meal type: Breakfast
Contents of the meal: Starter plate of sliced/peeled oranges, honeydew,
mango, with strawberry and grapes. Warm croissants and cinnamon rolls
brought around in a basket prior to main tray presentation. Main course
was an herb omelet with ham, a sausage patty, and a potato souffle.
Drink: Orange juice, full beverage service.
Comments: Nothing special here, omelet was actually tasty but nothing
out of the ordinary for CO's breakfast service. Decent crew on the 767
that morning, ton of CO employees throughout the cabin, and single seat
in the 767 BF cabin is the way to go when traveling alone. Nice flight.

Contents of the meal: Starter of Fisher salted cashews. Main tray had
Legal Sea Foods' Lobster Bisque, plus choice of either Lasagna in a marinara
sauce, or shrimp salad with a Greek vinaigrette dressing. Dessert was
a cherry cheesecake.
Drink: Full beverage service.
Comments: This is always a fun flight to take because of the availability
of Continental's great BusinessFirst cabin on this huge aircraft. Seat
was excellent, food was more than adequate (the lobster bisque is my favorite
out of the CO soups), and nobody really seemed to mind being on the aircraft
for an extra hour or so while we avoided big T-storms in the Houston area.
Fantastic IAH-based crew on this trip.

course; chicken, cheese, and pepper sandwich on a huge onion roll; blueberry
cheesecake for dessert.
Drink: Water, white wine, and full beverage service.
Comments: This flight made the trip down there in Coach well worth it.
Cabin crew very good, but the meal was excellent, better than most of
the food I had at the resort. The bread was typical of the kinds "native"
to the area, very light and crispy, and the sandwich was much bigger than
usual domestic CO flights. Lattice decorative touch on a very fluffy cheesecake
was nice.

Contents of the meal: Began with warm nuts served in a ramekin. Appetizer
of smoked salmon with cream cheese and caviar, served with horseradish
sauce and lime. Salad was "mesclun salad mix" with an herb vinaigrette
or Thousand Island dressing. This tray was served upside down. Entree
was a grilled Sterling Silver rib eye steak, served with mashed potatoes,
maitre'd hotel butter, asparagus, and red peppers. My traveling companion's
Surf & Turf option had a smaller cut of the Sterling Silver steak,
along with shrimp, carrots, spinach, and lemon. For dessert, the usual
ice cream sundae was offered with all the fixin's.
Drink: Full beverage service.
Comments: One of the best transcon F meals I have had. Everything about
this flight was top shelf, even down to the temperature of my beef (medium
rare). CO does a great job with dinner flights on the transcon routes.

Business or leisure trip: Both
Meal type: Breakfast
Contents of the meal: First is the new "Premier Bags" CO gives
out on transcons out of EWR. They contain a paperback novel, face spray,
lip balm, chocolates, and a sample of a designer fragrance. Starter plate
was sliced pineapple, canteloupe, honeydew, grapes, and strawberries.
Fresh baked croissants, cinnamon rolls, and bagels were brought out in
baskets. The main course was a cheese omelet with smoked pork loin, cherry
tomato, and potatoes. Around an hour before arrival, fresh baked chocolate
chip cookies were served.
Drink: Water, orange juice, full drink service.
Comments: Beautiful flight to Seattle, friendly crew and good meal. The
new Premier Bags are a nice touch, especially considering the premium-cabin
market from NYC to the West Coast is only becoming richer with the introduction
of United's p.s. 757 service from JFK. Slight service cuts here and there
are evident but Continental still offers an excellent product.

of the meal tray.
Drink: Water, full drink service.
Comments: This is your typical (non-transcon) lunch service on Continental.
Pretty dull after a while, but rarely is the food inedible and quality
is consistent. Again, great Continental service, special "shout out"

Contents of the meal: Overmicrowaved rubbery chicken breast, broccoli
(ever nuke broccoli until it tastes like hot nothing?), carrots, and a
gelatinous mass under the chicken that I believe was rice. Or used to
be rice. I think SkyChefs was trying to do some mochi-type of thing, but
I'm telling you, they failed miserably. I mean, how can you swing a kine
in such a tight space anyway? Anyway, there was not even one separate
grain of rice left, just a mass of goo. And really hot over in one corner,
$49 Wal-Mart microwave style, that burned the crap out of my palette and
left me with that little bit of broiled skin hanging from the roof of
my mouth. No blood, though... Hard roll, slimy grapes, wilted iceberg
lettuce with purple cabbage and carrots, a thimbleful of margarine, and
lukewarm water.
Also, they served us that angelfood cake every time they had a chance,
like they were trying to get rid of it. Didn't get a chance to check the
expiration date.
Drink: The aforementioned cup of ditch water.
Comments: Bad stuff... Didn't have a bowel movement for like five days
afterward. I think the rice-mass built a beaver dam in my colon.
