Comments: The dinner was served one tray style, which was typical in this
short hour flight. The salmon terrine was pretty good and tasty, and then
the bread was a soft cheese and sundried tomato roll. I had the seafood
entrée, which featured shrimps and crab legs with linguine in curry
sauce. The dessert was the worst part of the meal, but it was a decent
meal for sure. After the meal, there is a tea/coffee service with Chocolate

Taste just so so.
Fruit platter had grapefruit ; pineapple and papaya. I don't like papaya

good also.
The most tasty food of this breakfast was the bun!! It was hot enough
and smelt really good! Even i didn't add any butter but it still full
of butter smell!
Scrumbled egg was not soft enough. Luckily the sausage was tasty.Fried
fried was not cripsy after reheated.

Comments: Very impressive dinner. The quality
of the food must reflect the high standard of the Japanese caterers. The
tuna timbale and the crab leg was superb. The breads were delicious and
warm. I chose the beef, which was wonderfully medium rare and the sauce
was flavourful. The meat was of good quality. The Japanese Eel rice was
very good. The eel did not taste too 'fishy' and it was done in a very
tasty sauce. The rice, again, was not hard and grainy. It was heated just
right. We did not try the seafood. We missed the cheese board, but we
tried some fruits, which are sweet and fresh. The dessert of Panna Cotta
was terrific. The only let down was the rather poor winelist. The service
was wonderful from the cabin crew.

Veuve Clicquot Ponsardin Brut
Comments: Good start with their pre-flight champagne
being a Veuve Clicquot. Being a brunch, there was a mixture of Western
breakfasty things like the yoghurt and bread and jam and some more substantial
luncheon type main courses, like the prawns. The salmon dish is a typical
Japanese breakfast. I chose the salmon, which turned out pretty good.
The fish was moist and flavourful and the rice was heated up just right.
My wife had the prawns, which, if eaten in their restaurant would have
been excellent, were not too good. The flavour was just missing. We did
not try the other choices. I ordered the HK Style Milk Tea and it was
not half bad. Not as strong as you would get on the ground.
Ratings: An odd mix of dishes with breakfast items and
lunch items with ice cream. But the salmon was good. So, 8/10 for the
salmon, 5/10 for the prawns. Overall, 4/10 for the odd mixture of foods.
Service was good, though

potato"or "Pork with rice". I chose rice. However, the
only "pork" I could find were the two tiny pieces of chinese
salted ham! It was nearly a vegetarian meal, although the taste wasn't
bad! I were still so hungry even after eating the Haagen-Dazs ice-cream!
Also with the very uncomfortable seat of the A321 aircraft( no leg room
at all!), this flight was the worst one i've ever experienced! I wish
I would have booked an earlier or later flight with my expensive open
ticket!

Route: Shanghai Pudong (PVG) - Hong Kong (HKG),
18 Jan 2004
Ticket price: SYD-HKG-PVG and v v. - $2100 Australian
Flight duration: 2 hours 20 minutes
Aircraft type & class: A330-200, Economy
Business or leisure trip: Leisure
Meal: Lunch
No entree (appetiser for you Americans), Ham Foccacia
and pastry bread, Haagen-Dazs Chocolate-Chip ice cream
Drink Apple Juice and Red Wine (Syrah)
Comments: Being an afternoon snack no entree was
provided, however an extra something would've been nice (or maybe I'm
just a glutton :op). The foccacia was quite delicious as well as the pastry
snack (which the filling escapes my memory).Quite impressed with the Haagen-Dazs
Chocolate Chip Ice Cream, but not impressed with the red wine - tastes
like the stuff at the bottom of the bottle (then again, I wasn't expecting
much to begin with). Nevertheless quite a good snack.

Meal: Afternoon Snack
No entree (appetiser for you Americans), Chinese
dim sum, Haagen-Dazs Chocolate-Chip ice cream
Drink Orange Juice and Apple Juice
Comments: Being an afternoon snack no entree was

impressed with getting Haagen-Dazs for dessert. On the whole, a nice snack
(which turned out to be dinner for me)

Route: Phnom Penh, Cambodia - Hong Kong, 27 Dec
2003
Ticket price: about HK$3,000 round trip
Flight duration: 2 hr 15 min
Aircraft type & class: A320 Economy
Business or leisure trip: Leisure
Meal: Lunch
2 choices: The darker colour one [image 021]
is egg plant, seafood and chicken with rice - despite its look, my friend
said it tastes nice. The 2nd one [image 022], white in colour is pork
in white sauce with mash potato and beans / carrots. Pork is tender, juicy
and tastes very good too. Fruit is papaya, water melon & pineapple.
There is water and bread / butter.
Drink Tea (English or Chinese) and coffee, as
well as normal bar service.
Comments: The main dish is good, but lack of a
proper 1st course or salad. The whole meal is rather plain and passengers
deserve a fuller or more fulfilling meal on this very profitable route.
Flight attendents are excellent - very attentive service.
Rating 1-10 (worst-best): 8 for main course, 7
overall due lack of first course or salad.
