Aircraft type & class: Boing 747 Class Y (Economy)
Business or leisure trip: Business
Meal type: Breakfast - Well..... I picked the "pancake", whatever that was it was disgusting. Swiss yogurt that was sour and nasty, bread and plain white light cheese which was fine and a muffin, OJ and water.
Lunch - Meat balls with pasta that looks more like maggets. It tasted the same too. Veggie salad with italian dressing, pita break, eggplant and humus thing (that was pretty good), some wired looking cake (not pretty at all), and water.
Comments: It was horrible, good thing I had a grab to eat before we took off.
Rating 1-10 (worst-best): 3 and that's only thanks to the bread.

Comments: Excellent food, could barely eat everything here. Main course is just amazing and the cake - I dont remember eating something that tasty in a while. And it was not so sugary as cakes are in the US! I saved the spread and ate it at home - olives, nuts - just awesome. In a nutshell: El-Al, kol hakavod! ("great job" in hebrew)

Meal: dinner - beef pasta, salad, cake, smth like a bagel, humus (can't have any meal in Israel without that)
Drink: water and tea
Comments: only bad thing may be that you can feel the kosher taste of the meat, which is different that regular meat. Other than that, food is great, very filling and there is a lot of it. I don't remember flying an airline where they give you so much food with a very good service.

Flying from: Mumbay BOM to Tel Aviv TLV, 3 December 2002
Class: Economy
Meal: Dinner - Chicken breast in tomato sauce, rice with black olives, potato salad, 1/2 tomato, green pea, pineapple slices, papaya slices, 1 grape, cake, unlimited buns.
Drink: Water
Comments: "I ate part of the chicken breast. Nope, that didn't do it for me. The rice was slightly better. The fruit slices are good, and the cake is ok but not much more than that. El-Al has metal cutlery (yes, including a metal knife) in spite of increased security (when asked the staff said that "El-Al's security concept does not assume that the passengers do not have access to knives"). It's just a pitty that the fine metal knife is wasted on such a mediocre meal."
