Route: Trivandrum- Abu Dhabi, 18 Jan 2005
Flight duration: 4,5 hours
Aircraft type and class: 767 all economy class flight.
Business or leisure trip: Leisure
Meal type: Lunch
Contents of the meal: Coconut rice with lentils and peas in Indian style
masala. Cardamom chicken and chapatti. Cubes of vegetables. Kulfi for
dessert. Very tasty, but the chapatti was too hard. The vegetables was
without seasoning - perhaps an optional french dressing would do nicely.
Except for the chicken the vegetarian version of the meal was absolutely
identical.
Drink: Water, laban/ayran (delicious salty youghurt drink) and wine.
Comments: Tasted absolutely Indian - no blandness here!

Meal: Lunch
Comments: The end of my GF experience brought me to yet another terrible
meal experience. What was offered as lunch was a selection of beef or
chicken (no surprises). I figured that having tried chicken, it was beef’s
turn now. Same difference! The beef drenched in salty oily gravy was rubbery
in consistency. With brown rice which had a sniff of Arabic flavor. The
same bad hummus but with fatoush salad (basic green salad with crunchy
pieces of fried pita bread, that were not crunchy on this example!) this
time around. The same Ma’mool date pastry was offered. Water and
Coke, not to mention the water tasting coffee. I arrived at my destination!

Comments: My first experience with Gulf traveler was as bad that with
Gulf Air a few years back (not only the meal). We were given a selection
of Beef or Chicken. The meal contained what appeared to be a piece of
grilled chicken that till today I am debating if it were chicken or fish!
In an oily sauce. With Sticky noodles and baby corn (a stir fry thing
perhaps?!). The salad was part hummus which was smooth but not really
tasty with a very salty feta cheese in herb thing. Not edible. A piece
of Ma’mool which is a famous date pastry, this example was a product
of a local bakery chain. Since I am not a general fan of it I didn’t
like how it tasted. Not to forget the brown thin pita bread, water, OJ
(chemical like) and coffee. In my opinion the best thing with this meal
was the coffee spoon, sleek isn’t it?
