Flight Duration: 1hr
Class: Economy class on MD87.
Meal type: Refreshment - A bag of peanuts (tasting dreadful).
Drink: Orange/pineapple juice out of a selection of soft
drinks and coffee.
Comments: You really fly on a bag of a peanuts these
days even on a full service airline! If I had ordered a coffee, I'd have
got some biscuits packaged similarly to the peanuts. At least, Iberia,
if you're just giving away peanuts, please make sure they're eatable!

Aircraft type & class: MD-87 economy
Meal type: Dinner - Chicken in saffron sauce with rice
and spinach, salad, cream cheese, cream cake with almonds/nuts, bread
and butter
Drink: water & coffee (tea was also available)
Comments: "Nice (warm!!) chicken, rice and excellent
spinach (I think it had bits of pine seeds in it, very nice). Good salad
(the dressing was nice), nice cream cheese, and this time a nice bread
roll as well. My favorite part of the meal was the cake though, very very
tasty! The only weak point was again the coffee, but everything else confirms
my good impression of IB. Well done Iberia, even on such a relatively
short flight. I don’t recall getting such good meals on other European
carriers..."

Flying from: Venice to Madrid, 14 December 2002
Aircraft type & class: MD-88 economy
Meal type: Dinner - Breaded chicken nuggets with paella-like
rice, salad (with oil & vinegar dressing), “Bel Paese”
cream cheese, apple pie, bread roll & butter
Drink: water & coffee (tea was also available)
Comments: "The chicken nuggets looked like the ones
I buy at my local supermarket, and the rice was quite good, but what struck
me most is that both were actually served warm!! I don’t think I’ve
ever seen that on a 2-hour flight within Europe. Very nice and fresh salad,
lovely cream cheese, average apple pie, and very polyurethane-like bread
roll. The coffee wasn’t very good either, but aside from that and
the bread, I’m quite impressed with Iberia, especially after hearing
many negative comments about their service."
Rating 1-10 (worst-best): 7/8 (would have been more if
the bread and the coffee had been better).

Aircraft type & Class: A321, Business
Meal type: Lunch: "Fresh Garden Salad with Hearts
of Palm, Virgin Olive Oil and Sherry Vinegar", "Medallion of
Lamb Leg in Provencal Sauce, Sauteed Three-coloured Peppers, Boulangere
Potatoes", "Manchego and Serrat Cheeses", "Apple Crepe
with Vanilla Cream"
Drink: Spanish white wine, which was very good
Comments:" The service was pleasant, but the meal
was ordinary to bad, the lamb tasted like braised rat (or what I would
imagine braised rat to taste like), sauce was vile, the lettuce in the
salad was brown at the edges, though the hearts of palm were a nice addition.
The cheese was fine. They should stick to something a bit simpler and
tastier (like a nice plate of Spanish smoked hams and Spanish cheeses
with a little salad, in case Iberia wants my suggestion!)"
