Comments: Some of the best food I have ever eaten on a any flight. I understand
as JAL has fallen short on delivering it's new upgraded cabin services.
but the menu was extensive, more than I have ever seen on any other international
airline in First Class. Good mix of Japanese and Western foods to choose
from.

Comments: The food was nice, I was impressed
by the red seaweed in the salad, yet it did taste too strong. I am strating
to believe that asian airlines only know jelly as a dessert !!! on my
SQ flight to DPS I also had some sort of a jelly, on an NH flight from
BKK to NRT, jelly for dessert !!! Anyway, nice service from JAL, good
food too.

Meal: Dinner
170 - Good presentation again.
(Tray design comments, see previous)
171 - Main Course:
Beef Stew Bourgeois Style (Aussie Beef) with pasta, carrots, mushrooms,
2 pieces of beans.
172 - Starter:
Raw Ham with Stewed Pear Marinated Baby Scallop Potato Salad
175 - Salad, with onion dressing. Lettuce, 2 slices of Cucumber, Seaweed
(red / purple stuff).
176 - Dessert:
"Okinawa" Citrus Fruit Jelly, with a piece of small orange and
yellow sauce on top.
173, 174 - Red Wine and bread. French Bordeaux, specially packed for JAL.
Comments: Good meal again overall. But the Beef
Pasta is a slight let down because the beef quality is not as good as
I expect. I like the starter, scallop, raw ham and potato salad, all my
favourite! Seaweed & salad is a good combination - you won't get this
outside Japan! I saw some of the stewards "recycling" the unopened
bread - storing them for other uses (next flight? or for the poor?). Not
that I object to the practice, I hate wasting food. But I think it is
better to treat the bread as an option to pax, and not collecting them
after we have the chance to "manipulate" them!

Meal: Afternoon Tea / Dinner
159, 162 - Starter: Japanese Appetizer.
Chicken, Egg, Seasoned Lotus Root, some green "salad" and imitation
fish snack (white/pink).
160 - Black Bean Chicken, E-Fu Noodles and Chinese vegetables (choi sum).
161 - Meal: Presentation is EXCELLENT.
The tray design is good. Hot dish is held in place. There is a plastic
nob at the bottom of tray, so that it won't slide around the table.
Perhaps other airlines can learn or modify the tray?
163 - Japanese Sake (Rice Wine). Note the white cup on the right, comes
with the bottle (attached on top, up-side- down).
164 - Drinks: Sky Time
(thanks to airlinemeals.net for introducing this special JAL drink to
me!)
Menu: nicely printed, includes sectors:
HKG - Japan (NRT, KIX, FUK), and NRT - HKG
165-166 - Snack: Nuts and mixed "something".
Tastes GREAT !
167 - Mango pudding, with cream and a piece of grape.
168 - Japanese Noodles (Udon), with Wasabi (Japanese mustard), spring
onion, ginger and soy sauce mix (in bottle).
169 - Cherry Danish Pastry
Comments: Good meal overall. Although nothing
special or expensive, (ticket prices are much cheaper than, say, 10 or
15 years ago), it's adequate and I'm more than satisfied.
The other hot dish option is Eel Teriyaki on Seasoned Rice. Portion looks
really small, perhaps because eel is expensive.
