Route: Bangalore - Pune, 3 Oct 2006
Ticket price: $125 for through fare COK-BLR-PNQ
Flight duration: 1h 15m
Class: economy
Aircraft: Boeing 737-800 VT-JNJ
Meal: Lunch - Fruit Bowl (3 pieces each of watermelon and pineapple)
Maida Roti (1 piece), spicy Mixed Pickle, Bowl of Raita(salad in curd)
Main Dish: Fried Rice, with Chicken Makhani(??) on right and a strange Palak+Sweet Corn and cashew mix.
Dessert: Sewai (milk with semolina).
Cutlery: 3 piece metal.

Drink: Coffee/Tea, Fruit Juice
Comments: Pre-Takeoff: Cold Towels and 200ml waterbottle followed by a pre-takeoff drink round: basically tetrapak lassi/fruit juice wrapped in paper tissue.

Inflight: Meal cart was rolled out around 10 mins after takeoff. Decent meal overall: but once again caterers seem to expect passengers to put in salt-to-taste on their own!! Palak dish was weird: palak+sweet corn+cashews but quit nice! Chicken makhani could have done with a lot more spice: was just too bland! The dessert (yellow dish on top-left) was to kill for!! Awesome!! But overall quantity was disappointing. Some more Rice and some more sewai next time please!! Coffee after the meal. Perfect!!

Route: Cochin - Bangalore, 3 Oct 2006
Ticket price: $125 through fare COK-BLR-PNQ
Flight duration: 1h 20m
Class: one class only
Aircraft: ATR72-500
Meal: Breakfast - Fruit Bowl (3 pieces each of watermelon and pineapple)
Cold Bread, Butter (Amul small pack), Strawberry jam
Main Dish: Potato and Capsicum with chaat masala, Chicken sausages (2pc), Cheese Omelette.
Cutlery: 3 piece metal.

Drink: Coffee/Fruit Juice
Comments: Nearly full load on this early morning ATR72-500 regional flight in southern India staffed by 2 very busy and hassled FA's.

Pre-Takeoff: Cold Towels and 200ml waterbottle handed by the 2 FA's in a carefully
choreographed sequence!

Inflight: Meal cart was rolled out around 10 mins after takeoff, service starting from the
front. Almost the entire flight seemed to have opted for the non-veg option, atleast those
around me. Meal was similar to breakfast served on BOM-COK 737-400 flight 3 days before: except for scrambled eggs with cheese in place of cheese omelettes and potato croquet in place of potato-chaat.

Omelettes were good with a creamy cheese filling. Potato wedges + Capsicum with chaat masala- not something I had tasted earlier but it was nice. However the Chicken sausages were yuck: rubbery and tasteless. Caterers seemed to be going easy on the salt and spices though and I had to use the salt and pepper provided separately in sachets. Coffee/Tea service from pot by the other FA immediately after the meal. FA's also came around to ask for a second round of coffee/tea or fruit juice (from a tetrapak) to those who didnt want tea/coffee. Overall quite a good effort.

Infact what could have been a yum 8/10 breakfast was ruined by the sausages. Meal was catered by a Cochin based local firm and meals on these flights usually suck 9 times on 10. 9W should stick to Sky-Gourmet or TAJ-SATS.

Drink: Orange juice
Special meal: Indian vegetarian
Rating: 6 (for meal), 8 (for service)
Comments: Flight delayed four hours and Jet upgraded me and put me up in the lounge. All passengers got a sumptuous buffet-lunch (limited items) in Jet's lounge. Buttermilk was served before taxiing. I think they just serve the same food on both business and economy except that the presentation on business class is better and a menu card is handed out. Had expected better food from Jet. Service was good: the two flight attendants for seven rows in the Club Premiere class looked busy through-out the flight.

Comments: Buttermilk was served before takeoff. Lunch catered by Hotel Grand Ashok, Bangalore. This was my second flight on Jet and my first in over four years. Minimal quantity as obvious from the picture. Pulao had a mild flavour. The vegetable curry was average and had a confusing texture. Disappointing after hearing all the good stuff about Jet.

Meal: Dessert: Red currant Mousse
The other options were Kesari Rajbhog (a sweet Indian milk dessert with a more than a hint of saffron), or Seasonal cut fruits.
Drink: Tea, water
Comments: The dessert was too sweet and the currant a bit sour. Dessert was served on a trolley. This flight had a start studded passenger list which included Rajesh Khanna (former bollywood great), Varun Gandhi (grandson of late Mrs. Indira Gandhi), Akbar Khan (bollywood actor), and the CEO of Jet Airways. The food, variety, quantity, and service were amazing and I would give them a 10+ on all counts. Well done Jet, but please keep up the consistency.

Meal: Lunch: Entree: Mutton Dum biryani with makhani daal
The other non vegetarian option was: Thai Red Chicken Curry served with steamed rice. The vegetarian option was Vegetable biryani served with mirchi ka salan (biryani served with a hyderabadi spicy curry). The lighter option was Chefs salad with smoked chicken, or Tortellini with Ricotta served tomato basil
Drink: Diet coke, water
Comments: This was the most exotic dish I have seen in a while. I was a bit taken aback when it was presented to me, for my first reaction was "wow". Being from these parts, I had a fair idea that the main dish was under the purdah (covering). A foreigner might have been baffled. The dish is from the frontier region, i.e. Peshawar or Afghanistan and is a delicacy. The covering was made of flour, top with roasted sesame seeds and pumpkin seeds. The biryani is cooked under the purdah, and retains all the flavours. The dish was absolutely prefect. The mutton was so tender, it simply melted away. I was thoroughly impressed by the efforts and style. Daal was an ideal complement to the dish, and there was a mix of Indian breads too, which included chapati, paratha, or naan.

Meal: Lunch: First course
Greek salad, raita (Indian mixed yoghurt), "lurpak" slightly salted butter, garlic bread (foiled up), mulligatawny soup, bread sticks.
Drink: Diet coke, water
Comments: The Greek salad was a bit dry and vegetables looked unappetising. The feta cheese in it was tasty though. The soup could have been warmer and spicier. Surprised to have lurpak butter. It's a first for me on domestic Indian flights. The butter is normally amul or vijaya. Not sure if I still wouldn't prefer the Indian butter. Didn't try the raita.

Drink: Tea and packaged water
Comments: The kachori, chicken tikka, and the mini pizza's were delicious, so was the gulab jamun. Quantity was ok. I would have preferred a bread roll too. Drink: Pre take off - Aam panna (spicy mango refresher) followed by coffee and water
Comments: As I was still hungry, I asked for the vegetarian selection. The taste was very average. The paneer tikka was nice. The rest was lousy. Coffee was weak in taste, and Jet needs to improve the body and flavour. For a two and a half hour flight, this was just not enough. Barely anything to eat. No rolls offered. There were fruits and a chocolate marquise desert offered after the main course. Oatmeal cookies and beverages were available too.

Comments: Taste was excellent. The crab goolarh tasted fresh and yum. Can't pin point what this concussion resembled though. Chicken satay was more of a chicken tikka with a bit of lemon grass. The canapé was more of a decoration item. Coffee was weak in taste, and Jet needs to improve the body and flavour. For a two and a half hour flight, this was just not enough. Barely anything to eat. Meal: Non vegetarian Dinner - Dahi wada (Deep-fried urad dal doughnut topped with yoghurt, tamarind and mint chutney), onion salad.
Entree was mutton curry, mushroom steam rice, and bhindi (okra) masala. Accompanied with chapattis and pickle. Desert - Saffron Rosogolla (sugar/semolina ball in sugar syrup). The finale is of course
the "after mint" sachet.
Drink: Packaged water, which was preceded by Aam panna (spicy
mango refresher)
Comments: I'm not too fond of Dahi wada or onions, so I skipped on both of them and therefore cannot comment. The mutton curry was a bit bland, but the mutton was well cut and cooked. Mushrooms in the steam rice was a nice touch. Bhindi masala was yum, and home style chapattis was nice too. Jet Airways meals are not the same anymore. Standards are depreciating gradually, and a review of their in-flight food service would be appreciated.

Drink: Fresh lime water or sweet lime juice was available prior to take off. Mineral water available regularly.
Comments: For such a short flight, it's amazing they serve a full meal. What they couldn't complete or even start was the tea/coffee service. Please note that this is peak of monsoons season in India, so for the first fifteen minutes of the flight, the seat belts signs were on to negotiate those heavy dark clouds, so service started thereafter. ACtype/class: 737-400 Economy
Meal: Vegetarian meal - Fresh fruit, strawberryjam, roll, omelet with potatowedges, chickentriangle?, water
Drink: water or juices
Comments: Nice service. Before takeoff I was served a cold drink, newspapers were offered, hotmeal choice: veg or non-veg. Nice presentation, linen napkin, after meal offering of fresh fruit(apple or pear) in basket. Both stretches hot meals! Taste was typical Indian. Some items I could not subscribe.

Flying from: Jaipur to New Delhi, 3 November 2002
Class: economy, a one class service atr
Meal: lunch, maybe. hard to say - a bizarre yet rather yummy sandwich composed of layers of spicy beans alternated with a white cheese layered with pesto. All this in a triple deck configuration. The round dish contains sweetened nuts covered in a custard.
Drink: bottled water and tea.
Comments: "I find it really unnecessary to serve meals on such short flights but it was better than most things I ate while on the ground in India."
