Flight duration: 1h15
Aircraft: Airbus A319

Comments: Boring! Drunk and smelly Russian sitting behind me made eating this meal a real challenge. The flight attendants should have prohibited him from boarding - he could barely stand up!

Flying from Istanbul to Frankfurt on April 21, 2003
Flight duration: 2h54
Aircraft: Airbus A321, Economy
Meal type: Lunch - Corn, bell pepper and surimi salad, chicken and pasta with tomato and cheese sauce, bread and chocolate mousse with chocolate sauce.
Drink: Wolff Blass Australian Shiraz red wine and water.
Comments: Salad again a disappointment - strangely too much liquid and no real taste and lack of seasoning on tray (no dressing) couldn't improve this. Chicken and pasta were OK, tender enough. But the real disaster is that mousse thing: revolting. I took one bite - that was it. Can't remember such a bad dessert since grade school! Real discovery of this Lufthansa meal: they had real knives on the tray. I almost forgot how to use them!
Rating: 3 (+1 for the real knife) for a total of 4

Flying from: Frankfurt to Istanbul, 17 April 2003
Flight duration: 2h44
Aircraft: Airbus A321, Economy
Meal type: Dinner - Corn and bell pepper salad, chicken breast with tomato sauce, broccoli and pasta, bread and berry crumble.
Drink: Wolf Blass Australian Shiraz red wine
Comments: A bit disappointing but the chicken was good. Broccoli and pasta do not score high. The salad was very watery and pretty tasteless. Good points for the wine.

Flying from: Paris-CDG to Frankfurt, 17 April 2003
Flight Duration 1h31
Aircraft type & class: Boeing 737-300, Economy
Meal type: Snack - Ham sandwich
Drink: German beer
Comments: "Not a very good sandwich and not very appealing ham (texture and taste). Good beer though. Given the price of the ticket, I would have preferred paying less for the fare and paying for the Happy Snack (€5) on GermanWings as that meal is better - though no beer at that price."

Flying from: Frankfurt (FRA) to Delhi (DEL), 30 April 2003
Flight duration: 7h 15min
Aircraft type & class: B747-400, business class
Meal type: Indian vegetarian lunch * Appetizer Plate - Cumin-marinated Carrots, fried Chenna Cheese and spicy Button Mushrooms * Entree - Vegetables Korma, Chickpea Masala and Jeera Basmati Rice, served with Yoghurt and mixed Pickle * Cheese - Bavaria Blue, Tete de Moine and White Cheddar Cheese, served with Grapes * Dessert - Ras Malai in Shahi Tukra Sauce* Coffee, Chocolates* Bread, Rolls and Butter
Drink: A wide selection of softdrinks, juices, beer, wine and spirits. I had a glass of Champagne Duval Leroy Fleur de Champagne Brut as aperitif, carbonated mineral water with the meal, and a 1999 Vesco Nero d'Avola Cabernet Sauvignon IGT with the cheese.
Comments: On flights to India, Lufthansa offers Indian style vegetarian meals in addition to the western-style menu. The appetizer plate was a bit disappointing with the cheese too dry and the carrots too hard, but the entree was good and the dessert, consisting of of cheese balls in pistachio creme, tasted delicous. Friendly and professional service.

Flying from: Munich-London April 2003
Flight duration: 1.5 hours
Aircraft type & class: A320 - Business
Meal type: Brunch (between 10h00-12h00) - Cold plate with sliced chicken breast, chick peas in a herb/tomato dressing and some salad greens. Served with some cheese and warm breads and a sort of nut cake with cream and a passionfruit (?).
Drink: Coffee and Orange Juice.
Comments: Not as good as some other LH C-class meals. Who wants to eat chick peas at 11 in the morning? The chickpeas were mega-dry and would have been much better if offered with a dressing, even as simple as an Italian dressing out of a squeeze packages. The chicken was also dry and relatively flavourless - would have also benefited from some dressing. Breads were ample, warm and served with a smile. The dessert cake was almost as dry as the chickpeas before they were rehydrated and could have been served with a more generous helping of cream to counteract the dryness. The chocolates offered are exquisite and my complements to DreiMeister chocolatiers and the budgeting departing for permitting these indulgences. Juices should be served out of tumblers instead of wine glasses to allow a more suitable portion. Coffee cups should also be more like mugs instead of the half-yogurt cups that are presently used for coffee, which encourage spillage and only baby-sips of otherwise enjoyable coffee.

Flying from: London to Frankfurt - April 2003
Flight duration: 1 hour
Aircraft type & class: A320 - Business
Meal type: Lunch - Main course (cold) of grilled artichokes, a white fish, salad, pork or lamb with a tomatoes salsa and served with lemon and some sun dried tomatoes in olive oil. Served also with a celery stick, carrot stick and a sort of terrine in green fettuccini (upper left). Dessert was a piece of pear/apple cake with cream and chocolate shavings. Lunch served with German efficiency and a variety of warm breads.
Drink: White Wine - German Riesling
Comments: Impressive meal offering for a 1 hour flight. Another example of excellence in Lufthansa's "Taste of Europe" inter-European business class. Good presentation and compact format allows fast meal service, good visual appeal and a variety of things to sample on the plate. Real crockery is rare nowadays, especially in domestic/inter-European business class, so the custom designed plates are refreshing and quite unique. LH must work on differentiating their seating from economy however - 3 seats for business class is just not appealing.
