Flying from: Kuala Lumpur to Hong Kong, 10 January 2003
Aircraft type & class: B747-400, FCL
Meal Type: Brunch - Honey Strawberry Yoghurt, Rolls
Drink: Fresh Guava Juice
Comment: "A nice starter, actually MH got pretty nice
fresh juice
selections. Freshly Squeezed Orange Juice was quite refreshing upon
boarding. A normal main course was served after this, yes this is brunch!
It was bumppy all the way, (surprisingly all sectors on MH at this time),
maybe should avoid too much food even if you like airline meals!"

Aircraft type & class: B772, First Class
Meal Type: Lunch - Malaysian Satay (Grilled Chicken and Beef
with Spicy Peanut Sauce with some garnish) - Hors d'oeuvre Deluxe (Smoked Nordic
Salmon, Cajun Roasted Chicken) - Soba (Japanese Green Tea Noodles) and Garlic
Bread - Miso Beef (Grilled Halal Beef Tenderloin with Miso Paste, Lyonnaise
Potatos, Steamed Japanese - Rice, Assorted Mexed Veggies and Broccoli with Almond

Comment: "All served by trolleys in front of pax, very
traditional way of serving in First Class in past. Efficient yet elegant services
provided. More sophisticated or contemporary touch both in menu and presentation
(including tableware) would make this even nicer."

Flying from: Los Angles (LAX) to Kuala Lumpur (KUL) via Taipei
(TPE) , date10/10/2002
Class: First Class
Meal type: Supper, Breakfast and Brunch - Dinner; Chicken Curry,
Salmon, rice and vegetables; Breakfast: Fruit, croissant and Jam; Brunch: Dim
Sum, stir fried noodles, seasonal vegetables
Drink: Water, Orange Juice and Teh Tarik, a Malaysian favorite
(warm aerated sweet tea with condensed milk)
Comments: "The flight leaves LAX at 1 AM, arrives TPE
at 6 AM local time, then leaves 75 min later for KUL arriving 11:30 AM. Three
meals are offered enroute. There were only 2 passengers in First, the rest of
the plane was fully booked. The other passenger in First was a vegetarian. Supper
service began with chicken and beef satay; Indian spiced prawns, cabbage roll
with aspaagus and honey marinated chicken breast. Two soups were offered, seafood
chowder and clear oriental vegtable. The main course was salmon, chicken curry,
NY steak or pumpkin Ravioli in an Alfredo Sauce.I ordered from the menu and
expected an individual portion of food to be delivered. Instead the FAs presented
a full trolly of food. I was embarrassed, but ended up having a little of this
and a little of that. Sorry about the photo quality. It was a new digital camera
and I did not know how to operate it well. The dinner was very good. I then
slept until we were 45 min out of TPE. I was not hungry so I had a cold breakfast
and passed on the eggs to order, mixed grill and blueberry pancakes. The brunch
was great. Dim Sum (shrimp dumpling. chicken cheung fun and turnip cake with
chili paste.) I added the noodles and a sliver of the au gratin potato. Other
Brunch choices were a stir fried beef, omelette pizzaiola or spinach and riccota
tortellini. This was a great transpacific flight!!!"

Rating 1-10 (worst-best): Of the 5 passengers in the 1st Class

quiet elegance. Note the real knife and fork!! I give the meal an 8 and the
service a 9.

Flying from:
Johore Bahru, W. Malaysia to Kuching, E. Malaysia
(Sarawak), 12 January 2001
Class:
Y
Meal type: Lunch - Ginger chicken with Malaysian-style curried rice
and vegetables
Comments: "Considering it was a short hour &
twenty minute
domestic flight, the food was excellent, far better than anything
offered in North America where most airlines can't be bothered to
serve
anything. The girls had the food on the trays within 20 minutes
of take-off,
it was hot, clearly fresh, and quite well cooked.
The flan-like dessert was
very subtle: a combination of coconut and
(probably) mangosteen.
