Route : Kuala Lumpur (KUL) - Melbourne (MEL),
date: 26 February 2005
Ticket price : Yearly ticket
Flight Duration : 7h 35min + 1h delay due to haze.
Aircraft type and class : Boeing 777-2h6 (9M-MRQ) ,
Golden Club Class
Business or Leisure Trip : Leisure
Meal Type : Lunch and Refreshments
Contents of meal :
Pre take off drink : Fresh juices
Main : Braised prime ribs country style with barbeque
sauce, roast teriyaki chicken breast with teriyaki
sauce served with flame roasted vegetables, sauteed
herb mushrooms, steamed rice and fondante potatoes.
Refreshments : Prawn Pineapple Skewers, Mini Chicken
Pie and Baked Herbs Swiss Brown Mushrooms.
Dessert : Vienna Chocolate Cake and Ben and Jerry's
Strawberry Ice Cream
Accompaniments : Fresh fruits and assortment of breads
Drink : Diet Pepsi and free flow of tea
Comments : MRQ was installed with Malaysia Airlines'
new Business Class seats. A lot narrower than the
previous seats and fully electrical and had more
adjustments unlike the older ones which had only 3
buttons. The controls were noisy and I was awoken by
the passenger next to me. The only good thing about
this new seat is that it can be fully extended into a
flat bed albeit in a slanted position (I actually
slept well). It lacked lower back support, and it was
inconvenient to change settings (the back support and
leg rest movements are very dependant of each other
e.g. the back rest can only move a limited distance if
the legrest is extended so constant adjustments have
to be made) I was appalled and disappointed with the
service and food quality. Never have I experienced
this on MAS before! The cabin crew who served me
glared and complained when I placed my order. Prime
Ribs were well done, chicken was succulent and the
rice was well cooked. Wasnt too soggy or dry. And the
hot savouries, on the menu it said Prawn Pineapple
SkewerS and Mushrooms, but I received one small piece
of each. (Just look at the photograph!) It seems the
service that MAS was once famous for is disappearing;
especially for International flight. Not happy MAS!
Rating : 5 for food and 5 for service.

date: 26 February 2005
Ticket price : RM20,000+ (Yearly ticket)
Flight Duration : 1h 45min
Aircraft type and class : Boeing 737-4h6 (9M-MMN)
Golden Club Class
Business or Leisure Trip : Leisure
Meal Type : Breakfast
Contents of meal:
Pre take off drink : Fresh Juices
Main : Nasi Lemak (Rice cooked with coconut) served
rice and Squid);
Dessert : Tiramisu and fresh fruits
Drink : Diet Pepsi
Comments : Was looking foward to breakfast because MAS
serves nasi lemak on flights out of Kuching. This time
it was served with squid instead of prawns but was
still fantastic. Rice was just nice, and the long
beans were crunchy, wonderful! Tiramisu was very sweet
and overwhelming. Guava juice I had before take off
was nicely chilled and tasted fresh.
