Business or leisure trip: Éeisure. Checked out
the city of Münich in one day.
Meal type: evening sandwich
Contents of the meal: A sandwich, better than the one on the flight WAW
BUD, chocolate bar, djuice.
Drink: The orange djuice and that's it :)
Comments: The flight was shorter than outbound. Unfortunetely
that was that short that I was not able to ask for other drink. On short
flights only sandwich and djuice in the good known blue box. The smile
from crew was not missing this night :)

Route: Brussels-Budapest, 16 Mar 2004
Flight duration: 1 h 40 min
Aircraft type & class: Boeing 737-700, Economy
Business or leisure trip: Leisure
Meal type: Dinner
Contents of the meal: We had eaten typical Hungarian dish that day like
as "pörkölt". It was made by pork with spicy souce
with noodles. In addition on the tray was another pre packed soaked roll.
For dessert we received a sponge filled with jam.
Drink: Coca-Cola, 2 times 1,5 dl
Comments: It was a good trip. I had a very comfortable
seat on the newest aircraft of MALEV (HA-LOI). The stewardesses were friendly,
fast but the meat and the roll were a little bit toughy for me.

Meal type: Breakfast
Contents of the meal: Camembert cheese, ham, cooked chicken brest, noodles,
fresh tomato and cucumber. Yoghurt, jam and one pre packed roll.
Drink: Orange Juice
Comments: I don't know why they gave that one soaked
pre packed roll, because a few minutes later they were offered warm and
crispy ones. Anyway I was satisfied with everything. The F/A's done an
excellent duty.

Flight duration: 2 hours
Aircraft type & class: B737-700 HA-LOI
Business or leisure trip: leisure, visited my friend
in Uppsala
Meal type: Breakfast
Contents of the meal: A very tiny sausage with omlette du fromage and
tomato sauce. That part of the meal was that hot that I was not able to
even hold it. This is not usual nowadays to serve real hot meal on board.
There was yoghurt, a roll with butter and jam as well.
Drink: all kind of beverages, I had coca cola two times.
Comments: That was definetely more than the breakfast
I had on the BUD WAW flight earlier, but still not too much. Anyway, it
was tasty and barely enough for a breakfast, again in the blue box. But
I was missing a single smile on board from the pursers...

Flight duration: 2 h
Aircraft type & class: Boeing 737-600, Economy
Business or leisure trip: Leisure
Meal type: Dinner
Contents of the meal: The nice little recycled blue box again... in this
case there was noodles and pork on the plastic plate. The pre-packed roll
- as I had that morning - was soaked
Drink: One glass of Coca-Cola
Comments: Unfortunately conditions were pretty bad. The
plane was late because of our former prime minister's delegation. We had
full house and i was accepted from stand-by just few minutes before departure.
Not really keen on last row middle seats... Anyway the food was OK but
noticeably less than it was 2 months ago

Hungarian salami and eggs. Prepacked roll, butter, jam and yoghurt
Drink: Tea. Additionaly last time i got one can of Coca
Cola, now i had only one glass 1,5 dl of it
Comments: Good but not too much food nor drink. The crew
was awfully unprofessional and rude!!!

Flight duration: 2 hours 05 minutes
Ticket price: 265 euro
Aircraft type & class: B-737-300, Economy Class
Meal type: Hot lunch - roast potatoes and meat, á
la "Brassov",
dessert: Swiss-roll with apricot jam.
Drink: wide selection of alcoholic and soft drinks, including
coffee and
tea served afterwards. I drank Coke.
Comments: As Malev provides one of the best on-board
food, meal, catering among the airlines in the region, I was satisfied with the service
in respect of quality and quantity as well - both the drinks and the bread
was offered twice - in Economy Class.

a very little sandwich contains ham and some salad. Plus chocolate.
Drink: Every beverages plus tea and coffee.
Comments: This breakfast is part of the new meal concept
on board for Malév. Minimizing the portions but giving more of
the quality.

Route: BUD-FRA, 22 Jan 2004
Ticket price: $630 + upgrade miles (continuing onto a
FRA-DTW-ABE journey)
Flight duration: 1h35
Aircraft type & class: Fokker 70; Economy
Business or leisure trip: Leisure
Meal type: Breakfast
Contents of the meal: Two slices of turkey deli meat, one piece of cold
chicken breast, camembert cheese (?), and cucumber and tomato. Underneath
the meat was a pasta salad containing large macaroni with lettuce leaves
drenched in olive oil. Strawberry yoghurt and preserves were also served.
One bread roll came with the meal and cabin staff came around with a more
rustic type of bread roll apparently for use to make your own sandwich
with the deli meat. The bread roll pictured was to be used with the preserves
apparently.
Drink: Hot tea
Comment: Typical Hungarian breakfast of cold breakfast
meats. Rather filling and nutritious… definitely more than an American
carrier would serve on such a short flight. The blue box idea works rather
well and is very efficient considering the short flight duration (easy
to pass out and collect and very environmentally friendly). I was very
pleased with Malev.

Flying from: Budapest to Amsterdam, 5 Nov 2003
Flight duration: 2 hrs
Aircraft type & Class: B-737-700, Economy
Meal type: Dinner
Contents of the meal: Hot chicken stew with a bit soury sauce and with
rice, served along with Greek salad, butter and roll (offered twice).
Cookies filled with cream.
Drink: From the wide selection of soft and alcoholic
drinks this is a white wine from Szeremley (Irsai Oliver), and since drinks
are always offered twice on this flight by Malev, second time I chose
a Coke. Coffee (and thee) was also offered afterwards.
Comments: The hot stew was very delicious, but the cucumber
in the Greek salad was not so. The Hungarian made cookies were really
good.

(chocolate covered cookie filled with apricot jam)
Drink: White wine from Szeremley
Comments: As you can see the menu was pretty much the
same as on picture nr. 18 by David Michiels. The difference is that it
was serves as dinner that time. It was OK, nothing exceptional.

Contents of the meal: Chicken stew with liver and bean and with rice;
Greek salad; rolls and butter. Dessert: Cake filled with poppy seed, and
topped with meringue.
Drink: Broad selection of soft and alcoholic drinks,
which were served twice during the trip. I chose a dry white wine Irsai
Oliver from the cellars of Szeremley.
Comments: The stew was okay, the salad was a bit old.
The rolls must have been from the flight a day before… The dessert
was delicious; the drinks were also good in quality and quantity as well.

Meal type: Dinner
Ham, cheese and good Hungarian salami served together with vegetables
(however, those were not so tasty), bread and butter, and a chocolate-covered
cookie.
Drink: According to Malev standards the usual wide choice
of soft and alcoholic drinks, tea and coffee; I chose a dry white wine
(Irsai Oliver) and later a coke (drinks were offered twice!)
Comments: The service was good, the quality of the meal
- although cold - was also of good standard.
