Route: Riyadh - Jeddah, 14 Apr 2006
Ticket price: 150 USD round trip
Flight duration: 1h 25m
Class: economy
Aircraft: 777-200
Meal: Snack - The time has long gone when SV would pamper thier passengers -even economy- with a full hot meal on this major yet short route. Now you are handed this snak tray which consists of 2 small sandwitches, a desert, water and coffee or tea.
I must say incomparsion with other euro or north american airlines this is still considered generous since it' free.
The Sandwices were swiss cheese (poor quality swiss) (4/10) and tuna salad which was acceptable (7/10), the desert was the famous arabic "mahalabbiya" which is a desert made with rice and milk, not a favourite of mine and it was too processed in this example (4/10)
Drink: Water, tea or coffee
Comments: Nice trong Black coffee (7/10)
Rating 1-10 (worst-best): 7

Route: Dubai - Riyadh, 21 Aug 2005
Ticket price: Roundtrip 335 USD
Flight duration: 1h 20m
Class: economy
Aircraft: Boeing 747-400
Meal: Dinner - Bun (no butter or cheese), Salad with Dressing?, Main meal with white rice oiled Veggies and Mutton. Dessert strawberry fruit cake.
Drink: Water, Apple Jiuce (no other choices)
Comments: The look and manu of SV's Y-class meals have been very similar over the ast few years, specially on the DXB route. They have finally changed the dressing, however I am not sure what it tastes like (5/10). The main meal was acceptable but nor really special (4/10). The mutton was too salty and oily (4/10). Did not tatse the dessert.
Rating 1-10 (worst-best): 4.5

Route: Dubai to Riyadh, 14 Aug 2004
Ticket price: 335 USD
Flight duration:
1hr 25min
Aircraft type and Class: 747-400, Guest Class (Yclass)
Trip: Leisure
Meal: Dinner
Comments: In diffidence of “Golden Service” a selection of 2 main meals were not offered. Dinner was Beef in gravy with cubed boiled potatoes with peas and carrots. The meat was rubber! and the gravy too salty. The potatoes were still hard and under cooked the peas tasted as canned goods with acceptable carrots. A shame since the close up would show a far more acceptable dish. Served with Salad with vinaigrette (Classic Y-class dressing on SV flights for as long as I could remember!) and Chocolate cake. Water, apple juice and coffee.

Ticket price: 335 USD
Flight duration: 1hr 20min
Aircraft type and Class: 747-400, Guest Class (Yclass)
Trip: Leisure
Meal: Lunch
Comments: On selected flights SV offer “Golden Service” which theoretically includes better in-flight and ground service. It seems that the larger meal tray and better looking utensils are the actual differances. Lunch was a choice of Beef stew or Grilled chicken (Both Pictured). The Beef was favorable and spicy, with yellow rice which was acceptable. The same could not be said about the dry hard chicken with flavorless white rice. Both served with Salad with vinaigrette (Classic Y-class dressing on SV flights for as long as I could remember!) and Chocolate cake. Water, apple juice and tea (they forgot to serve coffee).
Rating: Beef 4/10, Chicken 2/10

031-033:
Dinner
Comments: Meal began with refreshments, my choice was 7up. The meal tray was boaring and presentation was bad. No roll was offered (flight attendant forgot to offer as I saw it available on tray). Salad was acceptable however the French/Thousand island dressing?? was terrible. Main course was extremely poor with dry chicken in a gravy with what appeared to taste like old soy sauce and boaring tasteless rice. The desert was some sort of cake, didn’t try it. Water and coffee. I must say I was very disappointed I always remembered that Y-class meals on SV were excellent. Extremely poor.

034-035:
Breakfast
Comments: The breakfast was as bad as the dinner, at least the FA didn’t forget my roll and courssant this time. Egg omlette with canned tasting mushrooms and hash browns which were cold and flavourless. Mixed fruit (didn’t try it) with orange juice, water and coffee. The perfect end to a disappointing meal experience.
