Comments: Good, except for the green salad in which the cucumber had disintegrated and turned to mush, as though it had been repeatedly frozen and thawed. The lettuce was a bit tired too. The caterers let them down on this one.

Drink:
Silver Kris Sling (gin, Cointreau, orange juice and pineapple juice topped with champagne)
Piper Heidsieck Rare Cuvee Reservee
2002 Lockwood Vineyard Monterey Chardonnay
Hattenheimer Riesling Kabinett 2001 Balthasar ress
Barbera d'asti superior "la luna e i falo" 2000 terre da vino (this was not that nice and was not a popular choice from my observation....although the tannins were not fine the wine did not finish too badly - average at best)
2001 Jekel Vineyards Monterey Cabernet Sauvignon (very good)
Comments:
Again the satay saved the day. The soup was basically tomato soup with chicken cubes. Croutons were yummy, although nice, the chicken cubes gave it a canned feeling. The fillet looked much better than it tasted. Beef was dry and tastless but everything else around it was good. It is possible to have good steak on the plane, I've had it. Bad luck with beef on SQ so far (unless it is on a satay stick). Chestnut cake was nice...but by that time....I've had enough.
Also metal knives issued (+1).
Service was ok, perhaps slightly down from the other flights. I had what seem to be a Japanese flight attendant serving me most of the time, she was the only one in all my SQ raffles flights who did not address me by name. She seemed quite worried, as if each request I made was treated as a complaint which wasn't so. Maybe she seemed afraid of me. Don't know why, I am a nice guy and easily pleased. Quite unusual considering all Japanese I had met on my holiday were extremely nice. Anyway she was not bad and she did not affect my rating on the meal.

Overall a very big meal.
The foie gras was very nice. The apple complimented it beautifully.
The steak was the beast airline meal i have ever had. Not over cooked.
Very tender, melted in my mouth. The taste was very very good. Beans were not overcooked. Huge serving.
Ice cream was good to finish with.
The service on this flight was so good. Once again the best i have ever
experienced. Made a long flight very enjoyable.

2002 Spy Valley Pinot Noir (this was very good)

Comments:
Salad was ok, better with the extra virgin olive oil (available upon request). Garlic bread. The braised beef was pretty much economy fare...and disappointing (should have picked the prawn pasta instead). Ice cream with strawberries was good. I thought this was dished out but when I had a second helping (+1) I found out it came as is frozen. The satay service was a life saver and really saved the poor main meals. The marinated prawn salad was good but the baked Hapuka exclusively created by Matthew Moran of Aria Restaurant in Sydney sucked. Should have picked he mushroom fettucine instead. It was too fishy tasting and I could only manage a couple of bites.....so did everyone else who picked this meal. I guess I won't be visiting Aria in Sydney anytime soon. Also metal knives issued (+1).
Also pictured is instant noodle which was available on request another life saver.
Excellent SQ service as usual.
Rating 1-10 (worst-best): 5 - I made poor choices from the menu too.

<<4.jpg>> Hash brown, poached eggs, sausage, sliced tomato, button mushrooms.

Drink: Orange juice/English Tea (Chinese Tea was available)
Comments:
Thank goodness for the hot chocolate that warmed me up. It can get
really cold on the plane! But breakfast was awful. I had the parsley
omelette set - the omelette was unappetising and the sausage, rubbery.
The leading supervisor came by to ask how breakfast was and I shared
my sentiments. Very quickly, he offered to bring over an extra set
from Raffles Class. I tucked in and found to much dismay that the
Raffles Class meal was no better than that of Economy Class!
Nevertheless kudoes to the leading supervisor for his efforts, and the
inflight crew for such impeccable service.
