However, SQ has done a fine job in making the humble omelette just moist and rightly firm for a fine breakfast in the air. The cheese was of the right texture, ie, those melt in your mouth kind and not those that have gotten hard and chewy after being re-heated again. A commendable effort at making breakfast enjoyable for a short flight. Kudos to the impeccable and most attentive inflight service and a big pat to the steward who ran after me at the terminal when I left my camera on my seat after I disembarked. Drink: White wine, diet coke, followed by tea (not seen in the picture). Comments: Chinese New Year celebrations were in full swing in Singapore, so it was a nice touch that the national airline included some traditional festive dishes on the meal service. Apart from the usual menu booklet, passengers were also provided with an additional information card to explain about the celebrations and the significance of the food about to be served. I was quite surprised that the prosperity salad was of a good standard considering it came out of an in-flight kitchen. The chicken was cooked in a very tasty sauce, and was well combined with rice and stir-fry vegetables. It was also the right temperature and not 'mouth-burning' as with some airline meals. Unless you happen to depart from an outpost that offers "Book the Cook", fillets might be an option. Even then, the fillet out of Narita was overcooked and too dry. The long haul lunch/dinners were disappointing but normally saved by the Satay service (normally offered on long haul flights offering 2 meals that did not end with breakfast). Finally, on my last flight, a decent meal finish of with a good review. The prawn pomelo salad was excellent and if memory serves (was dressed in honey mustard vinaigrette). The lobster was quite possibly the best meal I have had on business and portions were generous with everything around,(rice, asparagus, tomatoes) cooked as perfectly as one could expect for re-heated food. Breakfast was hearty and right for the midday arrival time. Also metal knives issued (+1). Menus were usually accurate with a separate menus for food and drinks. Drink menus displayed wine labels and respective tasting notes. Wines advertised on the menu were always available and free flowing. And like always excellent service with top notch on-demand dolby surround entertainment system. Comment addidion: On this flight they announced that a passenger on-board had a peanut allergy and to refrain from consuming any peanuts on this flight. Peanuts were not served on this flight or any other. They do care, but I like my peanuts:( Rating 1-10 (worst-best): 10 Camera brand & type: Canon Powershot S330 (dinner taken at night without flash using only available overhead light) |
