Route: Geneva to New York, February 2004
Duration: 8 hours
Aircraft: A330
Meal: Snack shortly before landing.
Contents: 2 sandwiches. One curry and one turkey. 2 small chocolates.
Comments: I enjoyed both sandwiches and the chocolates. Would have been better if they would have put some pieces of chicken in the curry sandwich. Was a bit dull with only the curry sauce. However still a pleasant snack.
Rating: 8 out of 10

Route: Geneva to New York, February 2004
Duration: 8 hours
Aircraft: A330
Meal: Dinner economy
Contents: about 7 pieces of tortellini pasta. Small salad, small plum cake, monterrey cheese.
Comments: The meal was skimpy in size. Portions were so small. Tortellini and tomato sauce were dry. The cake was very good but much too small. The monterey cheese had absalutely no taste. The salad was dull.

Duration: 8 hours
Aircraft: A330
Meal: Lunch economy
Contents: Veal Zurichois. Veal pieces in a creamy sauce with rice. Camambert cheese, small salad and small piece of apricot sponge cake.
Comments: The main meal was generous in size. Not too bad. Cheese was good; salad was dull; cake was very good but much too small. Need to increase size by 50% at least.
Rating: 5 out of 10 due to tiny size of cake and need to get rid of the awful salad.

Route: Geneva to Rome, 13 March 2004
Flight Duration: 1hr10 minutes
Class: Economy class on AVRO RJ100
Meal type: dinner - Gourmet sandwich filled with roast beef and cole
slaw, and a Toblerone chocolate bar.
Drink: Small bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon Shiraz red Australian wine.
Comments: The new Swiss short haul economy service is provided on a payment basis. For this "full" dinner I had to pay a hefty 10,50EUR. No water available for free...(and one mini bottle will set you 2,80EUR...) The sandwich quality was not bad, and it was quite big, well stuffed and really filling, even though the bread was not as crunchy as the photo rendering on the menu card was showing, being more of a soft type. Nothing to say on the Toblerone bar, while the wine was passable. Again the flight itself was just fine and very professionally attended, with flight attendants being a bit apologetical for demanding pasengers to pay for food, so nothing to say about that, and at least they provided (... for free) handfuls of Swiss chocolate cubes before landing.
Rating 1-10 (worst-best): for the flight +8, for the food (and its price) +6

Route: Rome to Geneva, 13 Mar 2004
Flight Duration: 1hr10 minutes
Class: Economy class on Airbus A319
Meal type: Breakfast - A croissant.
Drink: One cup of mint tea.
Comments: The new Swiss short haul economy service is provided on a payment basis. For this mini-breakfast I had to fork out 4,50EUR. Not even water is anymore available for free, and one mini bottle will set you 2,80EUR... Quality of the croissant was average and I felt a bit "robbed" by what I had to pay for. The flight itself was just fine and very professionally attended, so nothing to say about that, and at least they provided (this time for free) Swiss chocolate cubes before landing.
Rating 1-10 (worst-best): for the flight +8, for the food (and its price) +5

Flight duration: 7h59m
Aircraft type & class: Airbus 330-200, Economy Class
Meal type: Lunch
Contents of the meal: Salad (no dressing), "Chicken" (so they claimed), Carrot Cake, Camembert Cheese
Drink : 7-Up can (no cup)
Comments: This is the primary meal on an 8 hour flight? You have gotta be kidding me. It looked and tasted like crap. At least the cheese was edible.
Rating 1-10 (worst-best): 3 (1 each for the Camembert, the metal cutlery and the 7-Up)

Route: Zurich (ZRH) - Nairobi (NBO) , 2 Nov 2003
Flight duration: 07h30
Aircraft type & class: A330, C-Class (Business)
Business or leisure trip: business
Meal type: Main course (lunch)
Contents of the meal: Savarin of marinated salmon (first course), grilled steak with Meaux mustard, accompanied by potateo gratin, green beans and turned carrots (main course on photo), cheese, tiramisù Drink: Sparkling water, 1999 Château Fonréaud (Bordeaux red wine), 2002 Chardonnay Santa Ana Cepas (Argentina, white wine), coffee
Comments: Quite tasteful food, well served, and with good selection of alternatives. However, cheap mustard (Swiss Tommy Senf instead of French Dijon mustard), and no Espresso for Business Class (only in First! - Air France serves Dijon mustard and Espresso in F&C-Class). Overall good, but Swiss clearly must keep expenses low.
Rating 1-10 (worst-best): 8
