Flying from: Philadelphia PHL to Seattle, 14 October 2002
Class: Domestic First
Meal type: Dinner (transcontinental) - Salad, bread (3 choices),
entree (chicken and steak shown), marbled cheesecake
Drink: Parducci or R.H. Phillips red
Comments: "Disaster: caterers apparently spilled the appetiser
so none was offered. No menus loaded either. Salad was with choice of ranch
or vinaigrette, entree
was turbot (not shown), stuff chicken breast with julienned carrots and mash,
or steak with pepper sauce, french beans and mash. Main courses are not pre-plated.
Cheesecake was a bit soft/airey/spongey and on the light side (preferred by
my companion)."

Flying from: Seattle SEA to Charlotte CLT, 11 October 2002
Class: Domestic First
Meal type: Breakfast - Fruit plate, main + pastries
Drink: Finlandia Vodka and O.J.
Comments: Fruit plate ("Morning Fruit Medley") was
decent, 2 pineapple slices, 4 orange slices + 4 strawberry halves. Selection
of croissant or muffin with butter + Dickenson strawberry jam. "Denver
Western Omelet with salsa, sausage, roasted potato slices and sweet pepper julienne":
Sausages were excellent and non-greasy. Omelet excellent though plain and unfilled.

Class: Domestic First
Meal type: Dinner - Mixed Salad with packaged dressing, Pesto
chicken breast with risotto, XoXo candy bar dessert, bread roll + butter
Drink: Chase-Limoges sparkling wine
Comments: "Chicken looked gross but was quite tasty. Risotto
doesn't travel well. Xo Xo hazelnut creme sticks (from Austria) were excellent."

Flying from: Charlotte to Tampa, 12 October 2002
Class: First
Meal type: Special Order "Seafood" - Tuna fish salad,
cookie, tomatoes, mustard, all on plastic tray, no linens
Drink: Parducci Chardonnay
Comments: "I was very surprised on the downhill spiral
of US Airways special meals. In recent months, a special order seafood was either
a cold shrimp plate or sliced smoked salmon. As for this meal, it’s anyone’s
guess what the mustard is for. The tuna fish salad reminded me of past elementary
school cafeteria lunches."

Flying from: Pittsburg to Boston BOS, 29 September 2002
Class: Economy
Meal type: Snack - Pretzels
Drink: Apple juice
Comments: "Despite the fact that I paid for a full fare
seat for my two year old daughter to sit in by herself, she was not offered
any food (I gave her my bag). Stewardess did not hear my request for second
bag. So, my rating of 5 is an average of "10" for crisp pretzels and
"zero" for no service."

Flying from: Aruba to Philadelphia, 17 September 2002
Class: Coach
Meal type: Dinner - Salad, bun, chicken w/rice, cookies
Drink: Cranberry "juice"
Comments: "US Air continues to disappoint. Everyone knows
that you won't get anything decent in the back cabin on most of their brief
point to point flights around the East Coast, but I certainly expected something
a bit better and more substantial on a 4 1/2 hour non-stop to an exclusive vacation
destination. Chicken was dry, rice unseasoned, salad iceberg, bread so hard
it should have been confiscated as a potential weapon. The cookies were the
best part and that was because they were manufactured with plenty of preservatives."

Flying from: Los Angeles LAX to Philadelphia PHL, 1 September
2002
Class: First
Meal type: Lunch - Luncheon appetizer consisting of caramelized
red onion and pan-seared, herb-crusted goat cheese, over garlic toast. Fresh
rosemary sprig, garnish.
Drink: Uninspired chardonnay
Comments: "Very attractively presented with very high
quality ingredients. This is something I would expect to find in a quality restaurant."

Flying from: Seattle SEA to Philadelphia PHL, August 2002
Class: First
Meal type: Dinner - chicken linguine pasta salad w/portabello(?)
mushrooms and greens, chocolate cheesecake for dessert
Drink: Agua
Comments: "Chicken and pasta were cold, since it was technically
a salad, but it probably would've been tastier as a hot dish. Good light meal
for a late flight though. The cheesecake was delicious; ask for seconds if possible.

Class: First Class
Meal type: Dinner - Mixed greens salad. Cheese Lasagna.
Drink: Tanqueray & Tonic
Comments: "Hot meal was a nice surprise on 3 hour flight.
Croutons on salad were soggy :( Lasagna was quite flavorful. Roll was pretty
good. Meal wasn't extravagent like transcon flights, but it was filling and
pretty tasty. I especially liked how the flight attendant served my meal with
the drink on the tray."

Flying from: San Francisco to Pittsburgh, June 21, 2002
Class: Economy
Meal type: Dinner - Iceburg lettuce salad with tomato, beef
tips in black bean sauce with rice pilaf, and a Walker butter cookie.
Drink: Coke
Comments: "Meal was definitely worse than what was being
served up front. Salad dressing came in small ketchup-style packet and was hot
- yuck! Salad was fresh, but minimal. Rice was acceptable, as was the beef;
however, I'll probably try the pasta option next month."

Flying from: Philadelphia to San Francisco, June 16, 2002
Class: First
Meal type: Dinner - Dessert consisted of chocolate swirl cheesecake
and fresh, hot coffee.
Drink: Red wine and coffee.
Comments: "First class meal on USAirways is far superior
to their coach meals. Big meals like this only served on transcon flights...
meal was surprisingly good. We actually were given a nice little menu with salad
choices and three different entrees (chicken, beef, or turbot stuffed with salmon).
As another person said on the website, USAirways still doesn't skimp up front.
Flight attendants kept my wine and coffee filled as often as I wanted."

Flying from: Pittsburgh PIT to
Dallas DFW
Class: Coach
Meal type: Breakfast
Comments: "This "Aladdin tray" is a stackable vaacuum
thing that keeps the food hot on board till its served. The bottom of the tray
is like an air pocket. Most US carriers no longer serve any food on routes less
than 3 hrs, so this was a big treat."

Flying from: Los Angeles to Baltimore, Sept 26, 2001
Class: first class
Meal type: multi course lunch - Photo shows appetizer and salad course.
Appetizer is smoked salmon with cucumber and tomato slices, garnished with sweet
onions. Salad topped with creamy italian dressing and parmesan cheese shavings.
Bottom left shows ramekin with heated assorted nuts served during cocktails.
Comments: US Air provides an extraordinary service in the front cabin
during U.S. coast to coast flights. With limited galley space on their 757s,
they still are able to offer a top notch multi course main meal. Both Baltimore
and Los Angeles food, meal, catering was excellent, close to restaurant quality.
