Flying from: Washington Dulles IAD to Denver DEN, April 2003
Flight duration: 3 hours, 40 minutes
Aircraft type & class: Boeing 777-200, Business
Meal type: Dinner the chef salad this time. Lettuce, grilled chicken, bacon bits, hard-boiled eggs, Swiss cheese, black olives and “parmesan and pepper” dressing. Roll and butter, fruit bowl with cantaloupe and honeydew, grapes and strawberries. Milano cookies for dessert.
Drink: Red wine, water
Comments: This was a pretty decent salad and looked a lot better than the one served DEN-IAD. It also had a fruit bowl that was missing on that flight. Milanos are always good.

Flying from: Paris CDG to Washington Dulles IAD, April 2003
Flight duration: 8 hours, 25 minutes
Aircraft type & class: Boeing 777-200, Business
Meal type: Pre-arrival snack “Turkey and bacon sandwich with Cheddar cheese sauce; Roasted potato wedges.” The other choice was Cheese plate with fresh seasonal fruit; Cheddar Brie and Bavarian Blue cheese.”
Drink: Diet Coke
Comments: Very filling and not bad tasting but hard to eat (the bread was sort of crusty and hard to cut). The fries were a bit slimy. Not sure what the bread plate and butter were for, probably the cheese plate but they probably should have taken it off the tray for the sandwich choice.

Meal type: Dinner appetizer from the menu: “Spiced shrimp and chicken Wellingon; Cocktail sauce and fresh lemon. Garden salad with Asian sesame ginger dressing and an assortment of specialty breads fresh from the bakery.” Foccacia, sourdough and wheat rolls were available.
Drink: Veuve Clicquot Yellow Label Champagne, water.
Comments: Very nice after the disappointing DEN-IAD food. The shrimp were large and tasty and the chicken Wellington was quite nice, with chicken wrapped in pate and a puff pastry.

Flying from: Denver DEN to Washington Dulles IAD, April 2003
Flight duration: 3 hours, 10 minutes
Aircraft type & class: Boeing 777-200, Business
Meal type: Lunch The now-ubiquitous deli sandwich. Turkey, American cheese, lettuce, onion, tomato and a pickle spear with rye bread and a little mayo cup on the side. A tiny package of raspberry shortbread cookies on the side was dessert.
Drink: Water
Comments: This and the chef salad are what you can expect on any non-breakfast UA flight out of Denver (or pretty much any non-transcon/Hawaii flight). Not enough bread for the amount of meat/cheese and the tomato was literally still frozen. The cookie was so tiny and unsatisfying. A very disappointing offering.

Flying from: SFO to ANC, 9 July 2003
Flight duration: 4+ Hrs
Aircraft type & class: A-320 First Class
Meal type: Snack - Chicken caeser salad, small fruit, warm roll.
Drink: Bloody Mary and later Chilean wine.
Comments: Hard to classify this as just a snack considering we departed SFO at 1845. The salad was OK in the beginning until I bit into a chicken bone that almost punctured my gum. I was very careful from then on. Best part of the meal was the fruit. Too bad there wasn't more of it. I noticed that UAL did not include salt and pepper with the serving.
