Route: Frankfurt - Washington, 19 July 2003
Flight duration: about 6hrs
Aircraft type & class: Boeing 777, economy
Business or leisure trip: Leisure
Meal type: supper
Contents of the meal: Pasta dish
Drink: Vittel water
Comments: 3 large raviolis filled with a stodgy green
(spinach??) filling with a tomatoey sauce. As a meal-to-fill-you-up most
successful. Mixed salad - someone hast to get all the bits of stalk and
this was it. Iceberg and radicchio (not much). Tasteless, dreadful. The
dressing Aschenbach was the ray of hope. 3 grapes - very nice, fresh,
sweet, round and juicy. Piece of Prestige cheese - indefinable pasteurized
styrofoam, roll was sweetish, glazed and tasteless. Jacobs cream crackers
- either you like them or you don't. Icecream (British ice-cream - Cadbury's
- on a flight from FRA?) was the colour of mustard and crispy bits of
something again unidentifiable in it. Unpleasant sweet taste - left most
of it.
Rating 1-10 (worst-best): 3

Meal type: supper
Contents of the meal: chicken breast, mashed potatoes, green beans
Drink: Fortant de France Chardonnay Vin de pays d'oc

Comments: Chicken breast fine, grilled, nicely mashed
pots v. nice, chives and touch of bacon, green beans mother's old broad
beans, over ripe, soft boiled, something fresher and younger would have
been better. Gravy pure chemistry. One didn't expect much of the wine
and ist was worse than expected, bland tasteless. Mixed salad - someone

Comments: United's international flights have far better
food than any of their domestic flights; this was tasty and the portions
