Route: Sydney to Melbourne, 22 Feb 2004
Ticket price: $39
Aircraft type & class: not sure, ecoonomy
Business or leisure trip: leisure
Meal type: breakfast purcharsed from in-flight menu
Contents of the meal: double chocolate muffin ($3.00)
Drink: Classics Apple & blackcurrent Juice ($2.50) and Hot Chocolate (not in pic, $2.50)
Comments: The muffin would have been better if it's served warm, it's just a little too cold on a rather cool summer morning. But who's to complain with such cheap airfares? It's the tastiest muffin I have tasted 35,000ft above the ground! One other thing to note, the hot chocolate was surprisingly delicious. Neither milk nor soymilk had been added in it yet it's thick and chocolatey. For a price similar to ground stuff, I would say this is pretty good value. A good fix for chocoholics.
Rating 1-10 (worst-best): 6.5

Flying from: Brisbane BNE to Sydney SYD, 18 September 2003
Aircraft Type & class: 737-700, single class
Meal: "Yummy honey & soy chicken" (AUD 8,50)
Comments: Recently, Virgin Blue started a hot meal service on domestic
flights over 3 hours. Brisbane to Sydney is a short flight though (approx. 90 minutes), but being as important as we are :) they brought
two hot meals onboard for us to try. Great service!
Rating 1-10: a perfect 10, there's something magic with this sauce.

Flying from: Melbourne to Sydney (DJ801, 65 mins flight time), 24 May 2003
Ticket price: AUD$49
Aircraft Type & class: 737-800 (VH-VOC), single class "no frills" airline
Meal type: Purchased from in flight menu. Muffin (pineapple, $3.00)
Drink: Coffee ($2.50)
Comments: The coffee is always nice and the paper based cup is generous in size. For a $49 fare who cares about having to pay $2.50 for a refreshing coffee at 6:30am in the morning! The muffin was ice cold and would have been nicer had it been warmed beforehand. The prices are not exhorbitant or designed for maximum profit to the airline. Similar refreshments in the airport terminal would have cost substantially more. The menu on offer is simple, designed to be efficient for staff to serve up and of fair price.
Rating: 6/10
