Contents of the meal: From the menu: “Peppered
roast sirloin; Slices of peppered roast sirloin atop new potato salad
and mango with Thai chili sauce. Dessert: Opera cake.” Also came
with a roll/butter. The other choice was “Capellini all’Amatriciana;
Pasta with a pancetta bacon and tomato sauce.”
Drink: A bit of champagne (Billecart-Salmon, I think)
and a scotch and water on the rocks, then coffee with dessert.
Comments: The beef was a tiny bit tough but had a nice
flavor, with the sweet mango giving a good contrast to the peppery meat.
The opera cake was delicious.
