Ticket price: $275.80 (excluding taxes and included an
out-bound leg)
Flight duration: 3 hours+
Aircraft type & class: Boeing 737-800 Economy
Business or leisure trip: Leisure
Meal type: Bistro/Lunch (Vegan)
Contents of the meal: Pita wrap with fresh veggies, pretzels, and crackers
Drink: Cranberry apple cocktail
Comments: I was quite surprised at the high quality of
this meal. The
pita wrap was fresh and very tasty. The pretzels were quite interesting:
they came in the shape of hearts. This meal was certainly far better (and
healthier) than the regular meat/cheese sandwiches and, again, I was greatly
surprised at AA for the high quality.

Flight duration: 6 hours+
Aircraft type & class: Boeing 767-200 Economy
Business or leisure trip: Leisure
Meal type: Dinner (Vegan)
Contents of the meal: Main dish: rice and steamed vegetables with a tomato
sauce; Sides: salad, roll (with non-dairy butter), and fruit.
Drink: Ginger ale (not pictured)
Comments: I was horrified at this meal, although it still
looked much
better than the regular meals. The salad was not fresh and barely had
anything besides lettuce, the main course was very bland and had no taste
whatsoever, while the fruit was okay-ish.

Flying from: Dallas to Honolulu, 20 September 2002
Class: Coach (767)
Meal type: Lunch, Vegetarian by Request - Warm Dish consisting
of rice, a second rice dish (mixed rice), a mixed vegetable medley and
a small cup of spicy tomato sauce. A roll, a salad with French dressing,
fresh fruit, and a cinnamon "crisp" for desert.
Drink: Soft drinks and Juices
Comments: "The three types of rice and the vegetable
medley were properly cooked and spiced, and moderately tasty. The Marinara
Sauce did help the dish a little more. The role was dry and fairly tasteless,
even with the "butter spread". The salad was crisp and the dressing
was pleasant. The fresh fruit was hard and not very sweet, but tolerable.
The warm portions of the dish were served warm, and the chilled portions
of the dish were served chilled, which was nice. This was a better meal
than I expected, and frankly, I think a better meal than everyone else
got (Chicken vs. Lasagna)."
