Flying from: Delhi (DEL) to Bangalore (BLR), 25 Feb 2004
Ticket price: US$220 (Economy fare upgraded to business
class)
Flight duration: 2hr 23mins
Aircraft type & class: B737-700 (VT-JNV), Business
Class
Meal type: Mid morning refreshments: Paneer Kalimirch
Tikka (cottage cheese cooked with black pepper and Indian spices), Thai
Corn cutlet, Avadhi Aloo Tikki (spicy potato cake)
Drink: Pre take off - Aam panna (spicy mango refresher)
followed by coffee and water
Comments: As I was still hungry, I asked for the vegetarian
selection. The taste was very average. The paneer tikka was nice. The
rest was lousy. Coffee was weak in taste, and Jet needs to improve the
body and flavour. For a two and a half hour flight, this was just not
enough. Barely anything to eat. No rolls offered. There were fruits and
a chocolate marquise desert offered after the main course. Oatmeal cookies
and beverages were available too.

Flying from: Delhi (DEL) to Mumbai (BOM), 14 September
2003
Ticket price: US$140
Flight duration: 1hr 35mins
Aircraft type & class: B737-900 (VT-JGC), Economy
Class
Meal type: Non vegetarian Dinner - Dahi wada (Deep-fried
urad dal doughnut topped with yoghurt, tamarind and mint chutney), onion
salad.
Entree was mutton curry, mushroom steam rice, and bhindi (okra) masala.
Accompanied with chapattis and pickle. Desert - Saffron Rosogolla (sugar/semolina
ball in sugar syrup). The finale is of course
the "after mint" sachet.
Drink: Packaged water, which was preceded by Aam panna
(spicy
mango refresher)
Comments: I'm not too fond of Dahi wada or onions, so
I skipped on both of them and therefore cannot comment. The mutton curry
was a bit bland, but the mutton was well cut and cooked. Mushrooms in
the steam rice was a nice touch. Bhindi masala was yum, and home style
chapattis was nice too. Jet Airways meals are not the same anymore. Standards
are depreciating gradually, and a review of their in-flight food service
would be appreciated.

Flying from: Goa (GOI) to Mumbai (BOM), 23 June 2003
Ticket price: US$80 one way Y class (free upgrade to
Business class)
Flight duration: 55m (usually 40 minutes)
Aircraft type & class: B737-800 J class
Meal type: Vegetarian Lunch - mixed salad, palak paneer (cottage
cheese cooked with spinach), kadahi vegetables (mixed vegetables cooked
in a tomato and green capsicum sauce), yellow rice, raita (yoghurt), pickle,
bread rolls. Dessert - Shahi roll
Drink: Fresh lime water or sweet lime juice was available
prior to take off. Mineral water available regularly.
Comments: For such a short flight, it's amazing they
serve a full meal. What they couldn't complete or even start was the tea/coffee
service. Please note that this is peak of monsoons season in India, so
for the first fifteen minutes of the flight, the seat belts signs were
on to negotiate those heavy dark clouds, so service started thereafter.
Great food and excellent service.
