Route: Melbourne - Perth, 5 Nov 2004
Ticket price: A$851.18 (return)
Flight duration: 3h35m
Aircraft type & class: Airbus A330-200, Economy
Business or leisure trip: Business
Meal type: Asian Vegetarian
(meal was coded "VLML" so it was the same as regular vegetarian)
Contents of the meal: "Mediterranean Chick Pea and Eggplant Ragout",
salad, roll, chocolate, water. Followed by small "Magnum" ice
cream.
Drink: Jacob's Creek Shiraz Cabernet (not shown because I was only offered
it about half an hour after the meal arrived)
Comments: Normally the vegetarian meal is reasonable to excellent, but
not tonight... The sweet potato was nice, as were the slivers of capsicum
in the salad, but the main part of the meal was quite unappealing, both
before and after tasting it. The bread roll was slightly less stale than
it normally is, though. Service was a bit sloppy, I was served first and
the 2 passengers on the right of the row shortly afterwards, but my colleague
sitting in between wasn't offered a meal until a good 20 minutes later
(and then there was no choice for him as there was supposed to be, and
no explanation or apology given).
Drinks arrived for us several minutes after that.
Rating: 3.5 out of 10
Camera brand & type: Pentax Optio 230. Photo might have been clearer
but there isn't much room on Qantas to get far enough away from the meal
to get a decent focus
