To start - warm nuts with choice of beverage.
Large salad with only 1 type of dressing (olive oil w/balsamic vinegar) and choice of warm bread.
Main dish - Shrimp and scallop served with curry sauce, jasmine rice and vegetable ratatouille. The other choice was steak with potatoes.
Dessert - chocolate ice cream with marshmallows and pecans.
Drink:
Water and orange juice mixed with cranberry.
Comments:
Decent meal and salad was pretty large. Presentation of main dish could be better. AA could offer a cheese plate in addition to ice cream for dessert.
Light breakfast option: Beef pastrami bagel with horseradish cream, tomato and gherkin.
Lunch: Traditional Arabic mezze for starter, beef roulade with pickle and pastrami served with splatze, green beans and grilled peppers. Chocolate caramel cheesecake with raspberry sauce for dessert.
Drink:
Champagne, diet Pepsi, Baileys on ice.
Comments:
Fantastic meals, presentation and taste were of restaurant quality. The cheesecake was amazing.
Bread, banana bread and croissant, served with jam and butter. Fresh fruits with wild berry coulis. Natural yogurt with strawberry coulis and granola. Mushroom omelet with diced potatoes, asparagus and grilled tomato.
Drink:
Energiser fruit smoothie and English breakfast tea.
Comments:
The fruit, breads, yogurt and smoothie were fantastic. Omelet was on the dry side though. Overall, excellent meal.
L'amuse-bouche: Piquillo chili pepper cream with shrimp; Appetizer: Salmon roll and Crumble, Duck and Leek Terrine, Radish Julienne, and Baby Spinach salad; Main: Pan-seared Leg of Lamb Fillet with Green Olive Mashed Potatoes and Haricot Verts or Pan-Seared Scallops with Tartuffon Sauce, Polenta and Sugar Snap Peas; Cheese Course: Camambert and Petit Chevre.
The wines were great but the food was not the greatest. I am a very open-minded, adventurous eater but even this was kind of boring which surprised me given the French roots of this flight. The scallop dish was the feature of the 2 star Michelin Chef of the moment for Air France (Michel Roth) and it was substandard with soggy snap peas and no sear on the scallops. The flight attendant took it back based on its blase' appearance and I selected the lamb instead. I think it was more like elderly mutton because it was so tough with no sear as advertised and cooked just shy of leather. The service and plane were great, this new route from AF is outstanding but hopefully this meal was not typical of what they are capable of.
