Lunch
Appetiser: Seafood terrine with mixed peppers on
a bed of lettuce. Entree: Gosht Adraki (mutton cooked with ginger), steam
rice with half a cashew, spinach with corn (spiced vegetables). Accompaniments
were yoghurt, papad, rumali roti, pickle, Britannia cheese and crackers,
fruit. Bread roll, butter, and Cadbury's Perk chocolate were included
too. Desert was Peach and Apricot mousse, and some aftermints (saunf).
This was followed by tea/coffee.
Heineken beer and water
Lunchtime flight to Dubai was delayed by an hour an half due to fog in Lucknow. Lunch was served at 4pm. The entree was served in tin foil containers. Shame. No cold/hot towels offered at any time. Aircraft was an old battered ex-KQ one, with a J class configuration of 2x3x2. Passengers felt like a bunch of sardines. Aircraft a total misfit in Air India's fleet. The seafood appetiser was too fishy. The bread was luke warm. The mutton was tough and rubbery, nice gravy. The spinach and corn was edible. Desert was imaginative but too sweet. I have been served better meals with better presentation on Indian Railways (Shatabdi). The crew were a demoralised bunch. Was very happy to deplane. The other non veg. option was Chicken Mughlai, Rice Pulao, and Spiced vegetables. The vegetarian option was Paneer (cottage cheese) mangodi, rice pulao, and spiced vegetables. The desert was Chenna Payesh.
