American still serves domestic premium cabin passengers a small cold meal on flights over 2.5 hours despite their claim that they now serve hot meals. I tried the diabetic meal in hopes of having less carbs than the standard meal and I was impressed to find that I received an actual hot meal. This meal was lunch but by the portions it easily could have been a dinner from pre-COVID. We started with pre-departure drinks. Prior to the meal service the f/a provided hot towels followed by a drink and warmed mixed nuts. The meal consisted of a salad with balsamic vinaigrette, bread with margarine, baked chicken breast with corn polenta and carrots, a fruit plate, and sugar-free cookies. The meal itself was very good and surpassed any dinner pre-COVID. The fruit plate was bigger than those provided for pre-COVID breakfasts. I found it odd that corn polenta was served on a diabetic tray seeing that corn is high in carbs.

Equipment: Standard cutlery and dishes. The WiFi worked better than on previous flights and the seat was actually comfortable.   //   Other: American needs to start serving meals such as this in domestic premium cabin on ALL flights over 2.5 hours. Their compeitors have been doing this for almost a year as evidenced by my previous reviews. Our flight attendant was great.
