This flight marks the first hot meal that I received on American since pre-COVID except for one special meal request. The rating of 7/10 reflects that while the beef short rib and polenta were excellent, as far as airline food goes, the appetizer was in a tiny dish reserved for the warmed nuts and the salad was boring. It is curious that a small plate with a pat of butter was on the tray but we received no warmed bread. The airlines are always striving to save money and the wasted butter adds up the costs over time. We also received no warm nuts with our pre-meal beverages and no dessert was served. This flight was delayed one hour forty minutes and it would have been nice to receive a full dinner but the plane was probably already serviced and the entree was quite good.

Equipment: Plastic cups for drinks and glassware for meals made for a very uneven dining experience.   //   Other: Flight attendant was very nice and thanked us by name as we deplaned at our destination. It's too bad that catering ruined her overall positive service to her customers.
