This was my return flight to Vienna. Shortly after take-off drinks were offered and accompanied by a savoury snack (Cloud Hoppers). About an hour into the flight the main meal was served. I chose salmon, the other option was pasta. The fish was served with spinach and a mix of shredded potatoes and carrots. At first glance I couldn’t see the salmon but when I removed the potatoes and carrots I found a quite large portion of fish which was very tasty and fresh. I was actually surprised at the quality because during my outbound flight the meat (beef) wasn’t particularly high quality. Also on the meal tray was a salad and caesear dressing. For dessert was a light fruity and creamy sponge cake...very delicous. Other items on the tray included salt & pepper, cutlery, water, cream and sugar for coffee or tea. I was offered a warm bread roll as the meal was served plus the steward was kind enough to offer everybody another roll as he passed through the cabin shortly after. Drinks were served twice during the meal, and again shortly after. I really enjoyed this dinner and it really helped me to relax for the flight....top marks to Austrian. The second meal was served about an hour and a half before arrival at Vienna. This was a warm cheese and ham panini. It was surprisingly filling and Austrian caterers‘ were really generous with the ham in the sandwich. This was much better than the second meal on the outbound flight and didn’t leave me feeling hungry. Again during this meal drinks were served. Nice flight from Austrian, friendly air crew, modern plane, toilets clean!
