The flight started with a savoury snack (Cloud Hoppers) shortly after take off. This was accompanied by a choice of drinks. I chose a glass of white wine with a glass of water. The wine was very nice. The main meal was served about an hour after take off. I had a choice of pasta or beef. I decided to go for the beef. It was quite well presented with surprisingly fresh salad. A warm roll was also offered. The beef was a type of meat ball served with mashed potatoes, spinach and a pepper. It was full of flavour and tasted really nice. The dessert was a type of pudding which wasn’t bad, but not particularly to my taste....that said, I ate it all! Salt & pepper, butter and salad dressing were also provided on the tray, as was the plastic cutlery and napkin. During the meal I was offered more drinks (I again opted for the white wine), and then coffee to complete the meal. It was a most enjoyable lunch after which I sat back and watched the in-flight entertainment. About an hour and a half before arriving at Chicago the second meal was served. This was a warmed mozzarella and tomato toastie type snack. This was the only thing which disappointed me as it was quite small and one edge of the sandwich was quite cold. I was expecting something a little more filling as the flight was for nearly 11 hours and by then I was quite hungry. More drinks were served including coffee or tea. All in all, it was an excellent flight and the air stewards and stewardesses were brilliant. The cabin was very modern and the in-flight entertainment was very good. Drinks were offered regularly during the flight. This was my first long haul flight with Austrian and I wasn’t disappointed.
