EVA Air used to serve great meals in business class on these flights to Japan. I flew plenty of rotations to Fukuoka, Osaka Kansai, Tokyo Haneda and Narita, and there are always three choices - Western, Japanese, and Chinese (Ding Tai Fung). Apparently they are bringing in some major cuts on these shorter flights to Japan (or secondary cities), and on these narrowbody A321 flights. They offer just the regular light meal option with two main course choices. To add insults to the situation, the meals were plain vile. Who thought that overcooked squid/calamari ring was a good idea for airline meals, not to mention a bad piece of fish hidden underneath the calamari. The starter was terrible because I did not think that was smoked duck. The only passable part of the meals were the breads and the fruit bowl.
