Economy Class
Dinner , Special meal: no
We weren't sure what to expect even if this flight was like a "short-ish" long haul flight. What a relief to find (almost) the usual Intercontinental Lufthansa Service - full food and drink service, more than friendly cabin crewmembers of multiple countries - too bad the Lufthansa Magazin is no more.
Great experience travel during the pandemic while aboard (things would change once on the ground - NOT Lufthansa's fault of course - but an overzealous Bayerische Landesregierung especially at a time of low infection rates will make it quite clear (and the Gesundheitsaemter do a thorough job to verify almost daily) that we are indeed in a pandemic - innocent or not).
Lufthansa had just been rescued - mainly by the German Government in a preferential stock exchange offering - and has shrunk to a much smaller operation compared to what it had been just at the beginning of the year.
Thank You Lufthansa and the Crewmembers of Flight 413/30July.
Warsteiner Hell (beer), sparkling water
Relief!
Date added: 2020-11-21 // Flight #413 // Flight: 7:30 // Aircraft: Airbus A350-900 D-AIXE "Essen", one of the newest aircraft in LHs fleet, Munich-based
Equipment: Dinner: (no choice in standard Economy) pasta macaroni dish in melted cheese (happy to have enjoyed it, actually), too bad the bread roll on the tray does not measure up to the usual flight attendant offering around the bread basket; the one wrapped in plastic was extremely stale! Schade... Breakfast offering: scant (microscope, anybody?) but not disqualifying on this "shortish long-haul" flight. // Other: The view was "kostenlos" (no surcharge) and, summer luck had it, severe clear over England and all of Europe, so quite rare and priceless. The cabin crewmembers were really enthusiastic to fly again, were it not for subdue / mask-covered occupants all the way, everybody would have been smiling and much complimented. The Airbus A350 is a new "big twin"-engined long- / very long-haul airplane with larger A380-size windows and a lower cabin altitude (improved pressurization/climate control) in cruise so you won't feel quite as dead on arrival as before. But 3-3-3 seating does not feel as "spacious" as the A330/340 legacy aircraft. Nothing beats the A380 though!
