Although the airline or die Fluglinie is called Deutsche Lufthansa there is absolutely nothing deutsch about the meals they serve nowadays. Where is the pork? The meal is positively bland (fad) and tasteless (geschmacklos). In fact it was pretty horrible – who thought of serving generic pasta with bread and then give semolina pudding for desert? What is the nationality of this pathetic “food?” It has none, the cuisine apatride. The good side of it: Lufthansa actually serves food on its European routes, and it is actual food, lots of carbohydrates, absolutely no taste though, but if you think about it they could have given passengers hay or turnips or even nothing. The Swiss (International Airlines) actually sell strange looking sandwiches for a lot of money. Why do serve beer in tiny glass bottles instead of cans? – that logic is beyond me. The weight of carrying all this extra glass must add quite a few cents to the Lufthansa fuel bill. They only had one sort of beer, the Warsteiner, the blandest of German brews but not bad. On the positive note, the service was excellent, so was the beautiful Airbus aircraft (at least it is partly German), the Lufthansa ticket to St. Petersburg was a bit less expensive than Pulkovo Airlines’, its Russian competitor on this route. So I would it give this flight 2 for food, 7 for beer, 8 for service. It should average at about 5.5-5.6.
