Compared to the inbound on an A330, the flight on a standard 737 was inevitably a bit of a downer in terms of equipment but it doesn't really matter than much for a short hop like this. Unfortunately, the crew was also not quite as chirpy and nice than on the flight in but still professional and friendly so good enough I'd say.
The food however, oh dear, one of those disasters! We had the choice between a tomato soup and a "Sri Lankan Lamb curry" and we both opted for the latter. Boy, what a mistake! Usually, curries on airplanes are a pretty safe bet as the sauce keeps the dish and meat moist and juicy and I had some excellent examples of that on various airlines, including Qantas. In this case however, they've managed to obtain the very worst cuts of the oldest sheep to be found anywhere and it tasted exactly like that. Far from being 'lamb', we both left most of the dish untouched, so gross it all was. We saw that other people in the cabin did the same so we weren't some strange exception here. Wish I had selected the tomato soup which I continued to think of for the rest of this (rather hungry) evening!
Some rather boring Aussie Shiraz
